Again, this is a semi-valid point. I think the answer is at what point is the game no longer in doubt? If you're running your full offense at full speed, then yes, it's running up the score.

Well. Let's look at some other games, then.

SC-56
Charolotte-20

SC-10
SC State-10

Did South Carolina run the score up?

At what point were those games in doubt?

quote:

The main difference here that I can see is, that in regular season games coaches are still going for "Style points" (for a variety of reasons). This was the last game of the season, for the trophy. Prove yourself just 1 point better than your opponent, and the prize is yours.

I get that, but we were running the ball the whole 4th quarter with passes being thrown to make a first down when it was 3rd and long.
Our 4th string RB scored 2 TDs. I mean....how do you take your foot off the gas more than taking your QB out at the start of the 4th quarter and run the ball with your 4th string RB. (Branson Robinson)

quote:

Let me also pose this point, what happens if 1 of the SR. star starters on UGA's team get hurt in the last game up that many points? What about their NFL prospects that could potentially evaporate for no real reason at all given the circumstances? What then?
You didn't watch the entire game, did you? Early in the 4th quarter Kirby started calling his timeouts and removing those star senior players. He did that so the fans could give them attention and ovations, highlighting what they had done for the program. there was 14 minutes left in the 4th quarter when Bennett came out.

You are giving a knee jerk reaction to a score without knowing the details, imo.

And don't even think South Carolina fans were not bragging about their beatdown of Tennessee.

Sure we were, as was the entire rant. But we'd just won a game against a top 5 opponent we were expected to get destroyed by. It was our first win over a top 5 opponent in almost 5 year (and only the 6th time we'd ever beaten a top 5 team). And everyone knows the amount of smack Tennessee fans had thrown around all year...

On the flip side, we were also a fanbase that lost 5 games this year, including 2 of them in embarrassing fashion. The week before the Tennessee game, people were seriously questioning if Beamer was the right man for the job and wanted to skin the OC alive. It can honestly be said, that those two coaches were coaching for their careers that night.

So you can't just look at the final score of a game and the fans reaction to it in a vacuum....

Momba Mentality

GA literally took Stetson out and played their freshmen and second unit for the 4th Q. TCU kept their starters in and couldn't stop the run game with the back ups.

So the thread and argument are a weepy vag rant of lies.

Not even a Georgia fan, but how can you run up the score on a team that is supposedly your equal?? TCU made it to the big game and got stomped out. Simple as that.

The problem here is not running up the score, the real problem was TCU should have not been in the game.

Good teams stayed home because TCU plays in a weak conference. The selection committee is forced to do this and the only way to correct is a playoff with top twelve teams. 3 game playoffs even if we need to shorten the season, do away with conference championships

I think that's a fair point as well. I mean they won their way in, so they deserved it from that point of view, but I get what you're saying.

Talk up how (unlike the SEC) you play Texas in week 10 instead of the Citadel...then get your arse handed to you in the championship game.

Dude what are you jabbering about?

Was Georgia supposed to do take knees for a quarter and half?

As soon as TCU rolled over and acknowledged the arse whooping Kirby called off the Dawgs as best he could. Should there have been a running clock in the 2nd half?

TCU starters should have stopped 3rd stringers.

Considering where I went to school this sentence has me all confused...

I'll say. while I still stand by my original premise, a few of you have made convincing arguments to somewhat justify the final result. I still think Kirby could have called off the dogs a bit earlier tho....

Again, congrats on the win and the ship. I think we've beat this dead horse....

TCU's coach should keep his mouth shut about the SEC......

As a TCU fan I have no problem with it. It’s kind of dumb to stop playing halfway through the game.
