If you're in the national championship and complaining about the score being run up on you, then you should just forfeit. Either stop them or forfeit.

So all those backups that busted their back sides all year are supposed to take a knee?

I don't disagree with this point at all. In fact he should have put them in way earlier.

Do you really think anyone gives a damn what a classless, jealous AU fan thinks. We sure don’t. Enjoy your trashy new coach. Go Dawgs!

"Running up the score is classless."
NOT running up the score gets you criticized as being too lax.

Which is the better option?

Did you just compare a bunch of grown arse men getting paid to play football to a red soccer team? These aren’t the student athletes of 2012. These kids are openly being paid. They’re professionals at this point. You don’t want to be embarrassed? Earn your paycheck.

TCUs coach is being paid millions to coach his team. His job is to prepare his team to prevent other teams from scoring. He failed miserably. What was UGA suppose to do? The subs were put in and conservative running plays were being run. When TCU goes for it on fourth and a mile in the shadows of their own goalpost and blows it is Georgia suppose to take a knee for the final 8 minutes?
If TCU can’t stop Georgia there is no reason for Georgia to stop themselves. Our back ups work just as hard as our starters and they have earned their chance to show what they can do. And they did. 2023 looks like it could be a threepete

Let me say this (as a previous headed coach (22 years) on a couple of levels), there is no way to please people on a lop-sided score. I've been on the beat down side and I didn't tell the opponents to stop, it was up to our kids to step up and stop them. Then when our team was on the winning side, we would take a knee, we put in 2nd & 3rd string players, we asked to have a running clock. None of these resulted in happiness from other coaches especially taking a knee to prevent a score. Sportsmanship I get, but if a team is not intentionally trying to run up the score then that's sportsmanship at its finest. Suck it up buttercup!

I'm a big SEC supporter and I have to agree with this.

Run between the tackles if you don't want to rub it in, but there should have been zero passes thrown in the 2nd half of that game.

I'm disappointed in Smart.

As it was pointed out before the game, from a talent point of view, this was the biggest gap between two teams facing off in the championship game. Most folks on here were predicting a handy UGA victory, but nothing like this. I'm sure that the TCU coaches had come up with a plan that they thought would keep them in the game. But at some point, it's not about the X's and O's, it's about the Jimmy's and Joe's. It's not an excuse, but it does factor into the final outcome.

The issue that I have is With roughly 6 mins left in the 3rd, up 38 points, Kirby still had the starters in and was taking 20-30-40 yard shots down the field. By then, the point had already been made made, UGA was the better team. You didn't have to rub their face in it. But Kirby decided to.

At that point in the game, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th string should have already been in the game. UGA should have never snapped the ball with more that 3 seconds on the play clock and should have never thrown a pass more than 5 yards how the field (if they passed at all). It still accomplishes everything everyone on here has stated is important to them and the team.

Maybe I've got my point of view because I live outside of the footprint of the SEC. Maybe not. What I do know is what Kirby did last night doesn't make UGA look like a championship team and coach. It makes them look like a bunch of bullies.

So your complaint is that UGA was still playing hard in the 3rd quarter?

Holy shite.

ETA: imagine the embarrassment of having your opponent shut it down, take kneel downs, etc. that early in the game.
