Why would they make Bama forfeit games he was eligible in? He never played a game AFTER he was ruled ineligible.

Agreed. But that was their opportunity to enforce their power and they chose to sit on their hands. They should have taken a stance that any player ruled ineligible after the fact will result in forfeiture of games participated in, which has been a thing for decades. No school is rolling the dice on these questionable eligibility matters if they know they're going to have to hit delete on a season because of it. Their own laziness has helped create this situation.

He was only eligible because of a TRO, and only ineligible because of a countersuit that moved quickly.

He was always ineligible. The fact that they let that roll is part of the build up to this.
We're almost certainly going to see the same thing play out here. Players are probably going to win pending more legal action and they'll get to play in the meantime and then have to stop playing if they have a final determination made mid season. Which is a cluster frick.

It was a bullshite TRO that had virtually zero chance to stand on appeal, and everyone knew it. Bama gambled on the NCAA being docile and won their bet.

If they are indeed suing to simply enforce the contractually agreed upon bylaws, then the commerce clause would make sense given the issue relates across 12 states.

In case folks were unaware, the Speaker of the House is Mike Johnson (R) LA. Guess what university he got his law degree from?

The courts may eventually rule against this group of 2022 athletes but there will not be extreme measures taken against LSU by the SEC or NCAA.
The last thing they want is anti-trust charges being discussed in Congress.

I am good friends with some (non-athletic) higher-ups in the LSU admin, including its legal office. Sorely tempted to pick up the phone and call her, just to chew the fat. Heh

Correct. The admin is going to do whatever the court says. And Kiffin will as well.
I just wish the NCAA and SEC weren't so incompetent. It almost feels like this is a hissy fit of poor decisions and selective enforcement thats intentional to get legislation passed.
