I think those bad ones are the students from New Jersey. Most other students and older Penn State fans are nice enough. Those drunk Jersey boys are awful, especially when Ohio State comes to town.

They are the worst. There are very few true UM fans. The dregs of humanity come out when they are good, which has been rare of late. They can't sell out an NFL sized stadium unless it's a "big game", and even then it's a struggle. Their final game at the iconic Orange Bowl before they demolished it was 3/4 empty.

USCe worst - some dude with a midget complex kept starting fights with my group. +place is a a damn sauna.
AU 2nd worst - just one trashy lady that kept mouthing shite to my mom of all people.
LSU next worst - Two obnoxious red necks that most of the LSU fans around me kept yelling to stfu also. Made game not enjoyable. Tailgating was the best though.
I laugh when people say Georgia. 20+ years of being there and yet to see a single altercation in stadium. Fan base is now mostly suburban moms and kids. Sadly we lost most of our rednecks that got priced out.

This is very true ... undeniably-so. But, if they're drunk enough, they'll walk around in your home stadium barking in your face as well.

However, I did witness, up close and personal while a member of the media, the most insane thing I have ever witnessed as a vistor to someone else's stadium ... in Baton Rouge. Hands down THE MOST INSANE thing likely to have ever happened to a visiting bunch of fans and players while visiting another stadium.
Tiger Stadium, Death Valley, on the campus of LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
It was so outrageous that Skip (as AD) had to issue a formal public apology to Lou and his wife Beth. Skip is an honorable man.
From what I understand it led to some changes afterwards.
So, what I'm trying-to convey here is that basically, imho and having heard the opinions of hundreds of fellow SEC fans over the decades ... the general consensus is that it's a toss up between SOME UGA fans in Athens and SOME LSU fans in Baton Rouge.
Everyone has their bad apples. Different stadiums police the bad apples in different ways. Often, fan bases police themeselves and, even more often, it depends upon who is playing that day, rankings and standings at the time, day or night game, rivalries, past experiences, etc.

Your description of the event which led to a formal apology by our athletic director is gut wrenching.
Hard to believe that actually occurred.

Yep Georgia fans are terrible in Athens. Yet their fans will defend their actions till the end of time. Like clockwork. Almost as bad as Clemson fans quite honestly.

Georgia fans have gotten way to cocky lately and for good reason but some of them are rude as hell and act entitled. In real life many are many best friends though.

I rarely notice Alabama fans complaining about UGA, so I think it may have more to do with fans watching their teams get beat badly in Athens than any fan rudeness.

Almost everyone is pretty good.
LSU just happens to have the largest percentage of annoying in your face fans. So I guess that makes them the worst.
