Meh. Not really. If he goes then be goes but that would then put Auburn 31 million in the hole before even paying out Gus's assistants.

If he goes then that leaves the door open for us to bring Freeze home.

$22 Million for Gus’ buyout
$14 Million for Kiffin’s buyout

$36 Million in the hole before contract negotiations

so stupid

Everyone’s main reasoning for Kiffin going to auburn is so he can face saban. He already has that at ole miss. What does auburn give him that ole miss doesn’t?

Who wouldn't want the Auburn job? You know if you don't succeed, you'll get paid more than coaches who are killing it just to go away.

Yes, but Auburn has proven that you can win it all there. Ole Miss has never appeared in the SEC Championship Game. There is more pressure at Auburn, but the potential reward is greater.

OM was 4th and 25 away from winning the SEC in 2015. You can win here.

Has Kiffin coached at Auburn as an assistant before? If not, he’s not a serious candidate. Also Kiffin has been on Saban’s staff, he’s not dumb enough to go try to rebuild Auburn when the arch rival is in the peak of its dynasty.

My guess is saying Sark and Kiffin are interested in the Auburn job is nothing more
than trying to salvage a recruiting class.

Maybe

That said, I'm sure both are interested as anyone in a similar position would be. Now, whether Lane would ultimately make a 1 year move again or not is a different question, but in a vacuum either would obviously want the job.

try to rebuild Auburn
What?

Until this year's recruiting class, Auburn has finished 7, 11, 12, 9 by 247's rankings.

6-4 in an all-SEC state isn't bad, and they probably would have finished 7-5 with their original schedule.

The OL is a mess, but the Barn has a RB who would be a Doak Walker Award candidate behind just a decent O-Line.

Facilities are solid, and you have a booster/alumni base who have shown that they want to win and will pony up the money to do so.

This isn't a rebuild by any stretch of the definition, this is a course correction, which makes the prospect of them fricking it up all that more intriguing.

Lane Kiffin isn’t stupid. He knows there is only so much you can accomplish at Ole Miss. Auburn literally won the SEC with Gene Chizik and Gus Malzahn. Imagine what Lane Kiffin could do with Auburn’s resources.

wait, wait, wait a damn minute. Ole Miss last won the conf. in 1963. They are due.

Do not want a coach with zero loyalty. Wanting to leave Ole Miss after one season. GTFO.

I don't know, where did he go to school when he won the NC? Has any superstar player ever taken Ole Miss to the NC? The Gus Bus was just seconds away from winning an NC too without Cam. And let's not forget about Tommy T's 12-0 team getting screwed over and not being able to play for the NC.

You can win and have success at Ole Miss, but fact remains that they have never even appeared in the SEC Championship Game.

You just ruled out 99% of coaches..... Most coaches loyalty lies in the paycheck or pride in what they can accomplish. It doesn't lie in the university
