Plus, right now, it's a non-story. Why does Jaworski even bother to comment? It's all predicated on Joe Banner hiring Mike Lombardi. If this happens, Saban is a candidate, along with several others. Those candidates would of course listen, out of professional courtesy, but it doesn't mean they are actually interested. Draft day isn't till late April so there is still almost 4 months before an HC hire is even needed.

Say you are a head coach and know there is a possibility you may leave for another program, but nothing is set in stone yet. You are repeatedly asked about whether you will leave, and know that if you avoid the question everyone will know you are planning on leaving, and you can't say you are planning on leaving until a deal is made, in case it falls through and you stay. What is the right thing to say to the media, when the truth may directly affect you monetarily while a lie may affect your perceived integrity?

This is the part people conveniently leave out. They love to leave out context. Sure, the guy lied, but it wasn't with malicious intent. It was like being asked by your wife if she looks fat in the dress. Even if you think she does, you can't say yes.
He couldn't say yes he was going to Alabama in the situation he was in. Without hindsight as a crutch here...we didn't know how the rest of the Dolphins season was going to play out and we all know that the outside interference of the Bama questions had to be squashed till the season was over. Saying yes would have killed most chances they had at winning any games. Saying no was the best answer, even though it wasn't true.
Why people continue to obsess over this and pretend like he has some serious moral character flaw is beyond me.

It shouldn't be beyond you. It's simple. Failures who are jealous of success.

Well...that sums it up nicely. :)

Al Davis called Lane Kiffen one of the biggest liars he ever knew. Jaws calls Nicky a liar.
LK > Nicky as a liar
But, actually, there is a bit more to the story than Nicky making that infamous quote. He also was..lacking in integrity..when it came to telling his coaches, who repeatedly asked him over & over again bout his plans. Having said that, and being no fan of Nicky as a person, he didn't do anything that every other coach in sports has done, several more than once. He's a prick but not necessarily a lying prick.

I wish.
People forget he is 61.
I just don't see him coaching by 70. I'd say he retires at 65-66. His level of emotion/intensity will start killing him before too long.

I laugh literally every time LSU fans start with the Saban psychoanalaysis. lol.

I am making no psychoanalysis outside the obvious.
Are you implying that Saban is not an unusually intense or emotional coach?

Yeah, and have you seen him on ESPN? When Merril Hodge makes you look like an idiot on a daily basis you're in bad shape.
I mean Jaworski thinks Aaron Rodgers is the best QB in the league. Wait what? Tom Brady and Payton Manning tells you to go frick yourself Ron. That's how I know he's an idiot.
To be fair, Jaworski is very good at in-depth analysis and I don't think Hodge makes him appear any less knowledgeable. Their NFL Matchup is probably the best on ESPN, IMO.
And Aaron Rodgers is almost universally regarded as the best QB in the league. That sentiment does not belong to Jaworski alone. Your criticism is biased due to your belief that Jaworski attacked Saban.

Whatever Saban does, he doesn't have a great deal of time left in coaching. The man is too tightly wound to coach for more than another 5 years or so. He's not enjoying it anyway so what's the point? He'll either need to retire or he'll end up giving himself a heart attack.
That's no psychoanalysis. That's science. Ask Urban Meyer what stress does to your health. There's tons of research that correlates stress and heart disease. There's a reason why you didn't see any of the true old heads in coaching like Bowden yelling themselves purple on the sidelines.

Exactly, nobody in any other industry is expected to tell the media they maybe looking for another job and you would be an idiot to do so.
This is why if I were a coach I would put in any contract I sign that I am required to answer any question asked by the media about whether I am looking for / interested in another job with the following:
I am prohibited by contract from answering your question.
The end.
