As a fan, I'm for it. 'Twas a terrible football weekend at a critical time of the year.

It also doesn’t add much to get a win over a crappy team that late in the year.

Now we have confirmed that the cupcakes have to be front loaded.

Never forget Georgia Southern beating Florida without a single passing yard while two Florida players blocked each other...

Or New Mexico State beating Auburn 31-10.

Does it add much to get a win over a crappy team at the beginning of the year?

The faux outrage and pearl clutching over this was silly. Who cares if you play a cupcake in late November?

Well as a fan it kind of sucks. Basically a spring game in November.

Playing a team with a pulse is one thing but inviting Eastern Idaho for a 65-3 beat down is a waste of everyone's time.

On the other hand - we keep making it harder for SEC teams to get into the CFB playoff

How in the world does playing a cupcake earlier impact the CFB? The end of season conference games are still played and they always have a winner and loser.

No. But it’s expected then.

So? It is just a perception that it’s expected.

Stop playing them all the time, not just November. It’s unsporting and a rip off to fans.

Don’t overlook them, they’re pretty tough especially when they wear that traditional M helmet ask Tennessee fans.

What part is confusing?

Georgia Southern going 0-3 passing for zero yard?

Or the florida players blocking each other?

From a viewer's standpoint, I'm all for it. It was just a sluggish weekend of boring football. As other's have mentioned, it's hard to get fired up when you're beating on the likes of Salt Basin Tech.

From a player and team perspective, it was a break in the action. Good chance you were playing for a half and the 2nd and 3rds were taking over in the second half.

From a playoff perspective, it certainly didn't help but now you've got to bang it out with potentially another playoff team, and it counts for everything. With that, to be the man you gotta beat the man. You do that and nobody can hold your schedule against you. You've certainly earned your stripes for the playoff. Any blabber mouth from any other conference can stfu.

That’s going to screw some of the smaller FBS schools like App State out of a victory in College Station.

Yeah, the reason why I actually liked cupcake weekend was because it was a chance for the 3s, walk-ons, etc. to play in a game, at home, in front of family and friends. It was really cool to see some of those guys make memories that'll last a lifetime.

It was also a cool opportunity for the cupcake players to play against a major D1 opponent and for their program to receive a check that greatly helps fund their athletic department.

So….. when you are competing with the Big 10 for playof spots…. Perception is reality

Doesn’t matter if the SOS for the SEC team is actually stronger.

The SEC agreed to add a conference game to combat this argument, so the conference game will be late in the season…
