I got downvoted in earlier thread because I asked if the mix had anything to do with horrible recovery skills.

I know last time they had so much trouble finding a true Bengal.

Im going to guess that is very likely. My wife is in vet school and says its very common that when you cross breeds that genetic issues can occur. Sometimes breeders do this to develop new breeds based on non-dominant traits.

Aka it doesnt have anything to do with his recovery. But it does make him more susceptible to cancer especially.

I do not mean to sound callous by bringing up replacements so soon, but a live Mike is part of the fabric of the University.

Considering the University itself has stated that they will begin the search, I don't see how you can be called callous.

Thank you for that information.

I just hope that they can find a Bengal and they spare no expense. As I said, a live Mike is integral to the fabric of LSU. Or at least I believe that it is.

I appreciate your kind words. I don't think anyone thought you were callous.
We have all been dreading this day and many thoughts have been directed about a future Mike.

Now if PETA and SJWs just STFU.....

I agreed. But it appears LSU has already come out and said they will attempt to get another rescue donation.

Granted they dont accept every tiger that is put up. They still vet the animal and make sure there arent any major defects like any pet owner would.

Issue is they have to balance the line btwn attempting to help a captive tiger and just outright purchasing an endangered animal.

RIP Mike VI

I can't stop crying Mike, thinking of the times I saw you and the character and playfulness that you always showed.

Damn this hurts more than I ever thought.
