Also, couldn’t the IRS also verify incomes and parent information?

It’s now automatically pulls tax info from the IRS. With few exceptions, people can’t manually input information anymore.

Are they not verifying enrollment information before they dole out thousands of dollars in grants? Seems like they could confirm that they name and SSN match up or something along those lines

A lot of the scammers are using personal information such as SSN and DOB from hacks (looking at you Louisiana DMV), so the information on the FAFSA and admissions applications match.

Where they maybe could try to mitigate this is at the point where money pays out. Institutions have to verify attendance or academic participation for federal money to pay out, but that’s also one of the the points the article mentions (specifically the scammers submitting AI generated coursework). If the school is online or is only relying on a student submitting an assignment online as verification of academic participation rather than taking physical attendance, that’s an assumed risk since you can’t see the student themselves submit it. It’d be much cleaner for community colleges to rely on physical attendance or in-person assignments to reduce this type of thing, since fewer scammers are going to take the time to sit through multiple classes pretending to be someone in order for the money to pay out.
Similar to another poster above, I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease around 30 including one disc that had completely disintegrated. For a long time, I was on what felt like 80 medicines just to function on a day-to-day without pain.

While it'll never be "fixed" without fusion or prosthetic disc replacement surgery, I made significant improvements in dealing with the pain after I lost a good amount of weight, started running 3 miles daily, and started working on my core strength through BJJ and Judo. The ability to manage the pain has improved so much that I was able to get off of all daily medications.

That being said, I'm 39 now and I've noticed that small injuries start popping up a lot more frequently and the recovery time from injuries has started taking much longer. A rolled ankle or tweaked knee might take 4 weeks to fully feel back to normal rather than 1. Can't imagine it's going to get much better from here, but hey, that's life I guess.
I’m good with this as long as they step up enforcement on speeding equally as much. The number of jacked up truck nuts baws and douchebag BMWs doing 90+ every day on 12 is just as much of a problem as slow left lane drivers.

Not sure how I feel about that

re: Copilot AI coding very impressive

I've used Copilot pretty successfully depending on the task. It helped me solve a significant issue with data formatting/movement in Excel by writing a VBA macro script. Makes sense given it is a Microsoft product. Overall, I keep it in the rotation of different ones I use

Sounds like something was corrupted in the windows files when you forced shut down (might have been in the process of writing/updating while monitor was dark) rather than a hardware issue. Best bet is to start with wiping the drive and fresh installing.

That's more than my truck note for a 2018 F150
All good responses in this thread.

If things like re-seating ram/graphics card, updating bios, checking secure boot, and clearing CMOS, you could look into booting into a generic linux distro via live usb to delete existing partitions and format the entire drive to NTFS via a program like GParted and then trying to reinstall Windows 11. I've had to do this before on my current build once it became impossible to fix the issue via windows boot media. I was also able to access/recover certain files by mounting the windows partitions prior to formatting, so this might be an option if needed.

Is it still useable? If so, post an ad on FB marketplace or similar that you're giving it away, and someone will surely take you up on it.

I sold one years ago for $40 on facebook marketplace. Had a broken base, but the goal post and hoop were still good. It was gone within a day

You got a sizeable bonus/gift from your employer above your established compensation and you unfortunately have to pay taxes on it. Stop whining

Probably on a 10 year note at 8% too.

Doubt we see the wristbands again since people started chunking them into the crowd.

Don’t see them doing wrist band lights again. Giving a bunch of drunk college kids a projectile played out exactly like you would expect. Saw people down low getting hit left and right. Fortunately, they didn’t weigh much.

Riverside Towing is a terrorist organization. Prove me wrong.

Yep, back in college they towed me from my parking spot at my apartment complex in Tigerland in the middle of the night because my "tag wasn't visible". I pointed across the lot to my car and the tag clearly hanging from the windshield and they still wouldn't release it without paying. How they haven't been litigated into oblivion is still mind boggling to me.
