The term they used was ol' missus. Do gooders want to say that they took that and further changed it to come up with Ole Miss rather than the obvious source.

there are still black bears where I live, which is right in the crux of the 'boot' in St Francisville. They live on both sides of the river, close to the river, around here.

Keep the name Ole Miss.
Because I don't think any new name would connotate nearly the level of sheer garbage in every aspect of everything as Ole Miss does.
