I'd like to start a petition to get the "Ole Miss" name removed from the sidebar here on the Rant. We should be progressive and not just accept this blatant racist term as everyday language. I'm sure everyone but Mississippi fans will agree. Thanks

I've been referring to them simply as "Mississippi" for years.

I agree. Ole Miss is an antebellum term for the wife of the owner. (The Ole Miss)

It's archaic, racist, and has no place in modern times.

Just like the university itself.

I remember we had some OM fans on here at one time trying to convince everyone "Ole Miss" came from the name of a train.

Now that is hardcore denial right there.

But they've had plenty of practice now haven't they?

Should go from Ole Miss to Just Missed, epitomizing their luck in collegiate athletics.

Well they should be called by their appropriate nickname, the black bears. However for the link on the Rant page, Mississippi or Landmass should suffice
