My brother in law, a Big Tenn supporter, says the "inside" sources claim Gruden will take the job in less than two days for 10.2 million.

Got a Vol buddy of mine, who is close to the Hand family of Knoxville/Clarksville, saying the same exact thing. Same dude said last week that Jones will be out on Sunday. So, maybe he is on to something?

Most expensive mistake in college football history.

This. IMO, Gruden would kill it at Tennessee. He still has tons of juice with the young players. They all know exactly who he is. I think Gruden and his staff would wreck it on the recruiting trail.

Since when does he still have "juice" with younger players?

.550, which is way above average over an NFL career

fair enough. I don't know enough about NFL coaches careers to make a judgement.

If you've read one Guden would vs wouldn't be a good hire for UT / would vs wouldn't take the job, you've pretty much read the other 100s of them.

[Insert beating a dead horse gif here]

Y'all think Haslam might hire him to coach the Browns instead?

Yeah that's a dumb argument. Mine would be his level of interest in such a demanding job.

Why would he leave a cushy ESPN job to coach? Besides, why do people think he would even be a good college coach?

The only situation I could see where it makes sense is that ESPN has been unloading high paid on-air personalities the last few years and aren't slowing down. Gruden has one of the more inflated salaries over there. I have no idea of the terms of his contract but he may now see more long term stability in a coaching job. But Gruden could also prob stop working entirely tomorrow and be fine financially so who knows.

I think it ultimately comes down to if he wants to be a coach period. Some people truly enjoy the job. Given Gruden hasn't coached in 10 years makes me think he doesn't love coaching to the level of someone like Saban.
