Some schools with a permanent rival that’s out of conference end up picking up one more P5 game and cancelling an FCS opponent.
For example Georgia plays GT, and picked up Oregon too, with 2 FCS opponents. South Carolina, on the flip side, plays Clemson every year and 3 FCS’s. To keep Bedlam, OU is stuck in one of those 2 scenarios. I don’t think it’s worth it for OU

Too late...Missouri is already in the SEC.
Your lack of historical knowledge is showing.

No. Plenty of teams have got OOC rivals. No need to list them here - already been covered. OU and OSU played for almost 4 decades of that 116 year long rivalry being in different conferences. We've done it before. We could do it again. Many other teams do it now. We said we'd like to carry on doing it. We've tried. Our leaving the conference isn't a valid reason to stop this practictally ancient series and I don't think that's the reason they are doing it. A large percentage of their season tickets are only sold to Sooner fans who want to attend that game. There is nobody else that will ever replace that kind regional fandom, interest, and animosity.
Either they are ending this series out of just plain pettiness and/or they are considering that the possibility of finally winning a conference title and making the CFP is higher without us on the schedule. But then that's just chasing after the same money that they appear to be angry about us chasing after.
This is a very sad (though now rampant) state of affairs, and I really don't like the way these things are killing these historic and spirited, if not always competitive, rivalries.
...and it's all because of OU leaving the Big12.

Didnt K State just push your shite in?
They only need to do it like 30 more times to even the series now, so congrats on their big win I guess.
How does that change your fan bases attitude thinking you'll get to have your cake and eat it too? Whatever influence you had in the big 12 is totally irrelevant now. The SEC decides things as a group, OU will play who OU is told to play.

And when we play you, the arse beatings will continue.

I see that oklahoma education at work. Avoid the topic at hand completely then make uninspired cave man noises about past wins that no one cares about anymore.

They never cancelled the series, they just cancelled the 12th man!

The SEC and Big Ten should come to an agreement. OU and Nebraska play every Thanksgiving weekend. Missouri and Illinois play every Thanksgiving weekend. Oklahoma State is forgotten every Thanksgiving, like they apparently want to be.
Reasonable.

Highly ironic considering Mizzou has been in the SEC for over 10 years and the SAME could be said. IN fact anytime a thread pops up in the rant about teams that don't belong or that should be dropped, you guys come up more than Vandy...

I would be willing to bet just about anything that OU makes it to Atlanta a hell of a lot quicker than Misery.

So you think we get to Atlanta in our first year? Mizzou got to Atlanta in year two.

There are charter members who haven't even won their division or played in Atlanta, yet we have twice.
You guys are in for a rude awakening when you get here. Everyone knows it and sees it but you.

To be clear you guys took the best teams you have ever had, got beaten by OU, then joined the SEC walked through the weakest div in the SEC and got clobbered in Atlanta. Since then Mizzou has been irrelevant. I don't think the new SEC will have such an easy avenue as Mizzou had in 2014.

The notion the East was down in 2013 has been debunked repeatedly. 2014 might have been an easy year but 2013 wasn't at all. Most of the teams were ranked we played in addition to 2 ranked west opponents. Georgia almost beat Auburn. Vandy had James Franklin at coach, USC was a top 10 team that was beaten by the vols and Georgia. The east was plenty stacked in 13 and we lead auburn going into the 4th quarterin Atlanta. Hardly an obliteration.
Also finished the year off by beating one of best if not the best big 12 team that year in a bowl game by 2 scores.
