I’m curious what Aranda’s D will be like when we actually have a good set of linemen that can get to the QB. They’re great at stopping the run, but just can’t get to the statues.

Steele has done a great job, but understandable why LSU fans were excited to see him go after 2015, not sure how but rarely the defense would put up a great performance, seemed like everyone that season scored at least 20 on us. More frustrating was the offense obviously not doing well in most games so it made for a lot of tight games.

Except A&M

Steele’s been here since 2016 and the defense has been solid every year.

Aye. Sometimes it works out for all parties, and the kneejerk reactions and jokes look silly in retrospect.

Steele has been great for you guys.

you can check my post history on that. I was happy LSU got aranda, but I thought auburn made a nice hire too. LSU’s defense wasn’t really their problem his one season here, and I loved the staff we had in the defensive side (O at DL, Raymond secondary, Steele linebackers)

I’m glad a dude who was a laughing stock by many got redemption

LSU fans were laughing at Auburn, but I would say these transactions worked well for both programs

I got the feeling when Steele came to LSU it was a mutually agreed upon temporary situation. Steele didn't do well here, but typically coaches don't leave after one season unless there is a serious conflict like the one between O and Canada. I didn't see that with Steele.

He's done very well at Auburn though and a lot of the LSU fan base has pointed that out.

I'd say it worked out better for Auburn. LSU has been giving up a ton of points this year.

Yep, gave up 20 to Auburn.

Luckily, Steele gave up 23 to LSU.

most reasonable LSU fans understood he was good and were sorry to see him go. The Aranda hire helped ease the loss though.

This is what I remembered. I don't know what happened with Steele here but whatever it was it happened quickly.

lets see how Steele does when he doesn't have those defensive linemen. Same as lets see how this new LSU offense operates when Joe Burrow is no longer at LSU.

Amazing what a talented D line can do for a defense.

Our young LBs are playing pretty good too.

And no coach has benefited from this more than Gus Malzahn.

Steele is fantastic. Way better at Auburn than at LSU. Not sure why, but I'm happy for him. I agree it was a win for both teams.

I think that's what a lot of people don't get. That's kind of why I was on the "wait and see" side with Coach O. I believe in the right coach, at the right place at the right time. You have to have all 3 for success.
