The tape does not reference any specifics about the “offer,” if the particulars of the “offer” violated NCAA rules, if the player and/or his mother ever knew of the “offer” or if anyone accepted whatever the “offer” was.
It does not appear from this part of the call that Dawkins had any knowledge of what Wade is describing.
There is probably a LOT more on the 4,000 minutes that have not been released. Wade will likely refuse to testify under oath about anything because he doesn’t know what the FBI has on him...and we are all familiar with the term “perjury trap.” Furthermore he is not yet able to initiate discovery to find out what the FBI has because he hadn’t been formally charged yet (that is coming).
Taking the fifth or resorting to multiple “I don’t recall” will underline the problem. And once the “freaking strong offer” is defined or the fifth taken about it, Smart’s eligibility is forfeited. You all know what happens then regarding this season...and to anything that happens in the NCAAs.
I think it possible that the NCAA just doesn’t invite LSU to the tournament this year...letting them sit home to wail and gnash teeth. That would keep the tourney somewhat clean for everyone else. And What an epic melt that would be.

If they don't go, the AD will take "credit" for holding them out, not the NCAA.

Wouldn't it be interesting if Smart could name all the universities and what enticements they offered?

The FBI didn't subpoena Wade.

He could, but he couldn't prove anything, PLUS he'd never coach major college ball again, so...

That’s actually not in Wade’s favor.

The best part about the last few days is LSU went from a nice team to a national championship front runner who may be disqualified OMFG!
Media dramatization at its finest.

Wade out - never coming back. Who knows on Smart

State your opinion. No bullshite...no trolling.
That conversations on the wiretap phone conversations are pretty serious and I would imagine the LSU Compliance Office is going to make some pretty unpopular decisions.
IMHO, Wade will never coach again at LSU. It would not shock me at this moment his lawyer and agent are working on a buyout.
IMHO, Smart will be sitting out...will not play in the SEC or NCAAs.
Let’s go. Go on the record.

LSU should stick to their guns if they're dealing with Wade's lawyer/agent - because at first glimpse LSU can terminate his employment with cause.

quote:Well my God, Wade is good to go - LSU's sitting pretty and there's literally no reason why Wade was ever suspended or Smart either. The NCAA surely can't use inadmissible material that the highest court in the land won't accept in court to hammer a member institution, can they?
1. Smart is reinstated on Tuesday.
2. Will Wade is reinstated on May 1, 2019, with a reprimand from LSU.
3. YahooSports reports are not evidence of wrongdoing.
4. Those tapes will never be made public in a way that we can all trust is accurate. As in the first legal proceedings, they and the so-called transcripts are not admissible as evidence in the legal case.
I had no idea the additional wiretaps weren't admissible to the courts.

It will be announced on Tuesday that Smart will be allowed to play.
There are way too many unknown factors to even guess if and when Wade will coach LSU.

Of course LSU officials do not want to give Wade a damn dime with cause...but you and I know Wade and his lawyers will take them to court to get the remainder of his contract. The LSU lawyers are going to have to expose him on the stand with all of his violations he committed (which maybe a hell a lot more then what he said on the wiretap)...which could cripple the basketball program.
It is probably cheaper to give him something and cut ties...try to keep more shite getting out. There are rumblings that Reid maybe caught up in this mess.

My only regret is LSU has completely distracted you from the great season Kentucky is having.

Lulz, LSU fans better realize the NCAA is not a court of law. All they need is confirmed transcripts of conversations.
Wade is toast. Just like Self and Miller. Louisville is hoping the self imposed sanctions will soften the blow on top of the stripper gate.

My only regret is your gossiping school girl Nancy coach has distracted you from a tarnished season LSU is having.

LSU would no doubt be pissed at having to pay CWW to terminate his contract AND then have to fork out millions in attny fees to lawyer up for an NCAA investigation.
