Let the Coach coach and the players play. If they're actually guilty of what's suggested in the wiretap the entire year gets wiped out whether they play or not so sitting them out makes no sense.

The NCAA isn't going to take down two bluebloods. Like it or not, the NCAA is a shite organization and isn't going to allow programs like that to go down.

LSU has nothing to lose at this point by letting them coach/play.

Sure they do. You can say that compared to a potential deep run in the tourney they don’t have enough to lose. You can’t say they have nothing to lose.

It’s all about public perception. They are already guilty in that court. The administration obviously knows enough to agree, at least partially with what has been leaked otherwise why take the actions they have?

Arizonas coach is on record offering 100 grand, yet he just coached a full season.

Zona doesnt care about public perception, they had balls and didnt give in.

Alleva and King caved when they didnt have to.

Well I guess it’s past time to fire your AD then.

Good luck in the tourney.

Agreed. With LSU suspending Wade and benching Smart they are trying to get out ahead of the situation as best they can at this point.

yet Kansas and Arizona could care less about getting out in front of the situation.

its unreal that we caved to mean tweets and a search engine.

True enough but the NCAA now has a problem. With the LSU debacle, the horse is now or will soon be out of the barn on a fistful of other schools caught up in this, compliments of the FBI investigation. That's not just going to disappear.

IMHO, Wade will never coach again at LSU. It would not shock me at this moment his lawyer and agent are working on a buyout.

this might sound shocking, but LSU will have the option to fire him without paying any form of a buyout. You may be right that Wade never coaches again, wouldn't be that surprising.

IMHO, Smart will be sitting out...will not play in the SEC or NCAAs.

why? if shite hits the fan they'll revoke out wins anyway, so why the hell not keep playing him? it's basically an admission of guilt anyway by sitting him the rest of the way.

watching the media crucify LSU with what we know about Kansas and Arizona is nothing short of astonishing.

1. Smart is reinstated on Tuesday.

2. Will Wade is reinstated on May 1, 2019, with a reprimand from LSU.

3. YahooSports reports are not evidence of wrongdoing.

4. Those tapes will never be made public in a way that we can all trust is accurate. As in the first legal proceedings, they and the so-called transcripts are not admissible as evidence in the legal case.

I'd be careful tossing those stones in your glass houses: Per CBS report: "Based on Friday's report, and documents obtained therein, schools that could potentially face NCAA repercussions include: Alabama, Clemson, Creighton, Duke, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, Michigan State, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Seton Hall, USC, Utah, Villanova, Virginia, Washington, Wichita State Texas and Xavier."

That article is over a year old. It isn’t news. This has been discussed for quite some time. The Noel situation (which I don’t think was mentioned) involves alleged payments that dated after he left the school. As for Knox, he denies the meal ever took place but even if it did he’d basically just have to repay the cost of the meal. Adebayo is really the only kid in play. These “bad loans” obviously could be payments from ASM but it doesn’t tell us when they were made or whether or not the school was involved. These are huge factors. Schools getting hit right now or who have already been hit (Oklahoma State, Auburn, Arizona, Louisville, etc.) have coaches who in one way or another were alleged to have been involved in the process.

It all gets extremely complicated because prosecutors are trying to prove that most coaches were ignorant of what was going on. In fact, their case heavily relies on this. That’s why Dawkins attorneys are trying to prove just the opposite. If coaches knew, Dawkins and his cohorts couldn’t have defrauded the schools.

Dawkins was prosecuted alongside an Adidas executive. Thus, we’re going to see mostly Adidas schools involved at this point. Wade was just unlucky enough to have had a conversation with Dawkins at the wrong time.

I’m sure I’m getting some of the moving parts incorrect but it’s a complicated case. Either way, presuming to know UK’s involvement at this point is pure conjecture.

I think they end up playing Smart in the tournament, but Wade has put them in a terrible situation.

Showing faith in the player, but punishing the coach is just the easiest way forward-- whether merited or not.

You can't look like you are coddling someone who is both insubordinate and under a cloud of allegations, whereas you can spin backing the player as 'We believe in our student athletes', and make the NCAA the bad guy, as people have sympathy for 'unpaid' players.

You embrace someone who may end up having orchestrated a probation? That's tough sledding for any athletic program.

Oh, and if football doesn't produce, the AD is going to be eased out in a year or two, for putting LSU in this position. When you give an ultimatum to a guy who may have taken your program down a dark road, and he gives you the finger, your authority is permanently damaged.

It's going to take some time to play out. I imagine Wade is done and Smart would have to sit at least a year, best case scenario.
