Ranking the SEC

This is starting to get fairly easy. There have now been enough games that a clear pecking order is starting to form:
1. Georgia
Okay, so Bama might deserve to hold this spot until someone beats them. But how in the world would anyone know if this Bama team is as good as they've looked while feasting on cupcakes. Unlike Bama, Georgia has proven itself as a contender with our win over Notre Dame in South Bend. Until Bama wins a big game, Georgia deserves the top spot.
2. Alabama
See above.
3. Auburn
Close losses to Clemson and LSU on the road are their only blemishes. They manhandled Mississippi State which is the reason why they deserve the #3 spot right now. Neither LSU or Mississippi State have a win like that on their resumes.
4. Mississippi State
Blowout losses to Georgia and Auburn make it clear that #4 in the league is the highest they can be ranked. But a blowout win over LSU is what tips the scales in their favor over the Bengal Tigers.
5. LSU
The loss to Troy is still a head-scratcher. There are clearly 5 teams in the SEC that are better than everyone else, and LSU is #5 for now.
6. Texas A&M
The Aggies beat both Florida and South Carolina, so putting them at #6 is a very obvious spot for them.
7. South Carolina
Muschamp has quietly exceeded expectations this year in Columbia. An inexplicable loss to Kentucky at home is the only thing keeping Carolina from a Top 15 ranking right now in the polls.
8. Florida
Hard to believe that this Florida team is so bad, yet there are six SEC teams worse.
9. Kentucky
10. Arkansas
11. Ole Miss
12. Tennessee
13. Vanderbilt
14. Missouri
So far, there have been 35 conference games played and 33 of those fall in line with these rankings. LSU's upset win over Auburn and Kentucky's upset win over South Carolina are the only games that go against this order.

I think Bama deserves the top spot until someone actually beats them.

How the hell do you have Auburn who lost to LSU at 3?
ETA: Two spots above the team that beat them

Think I agree with this for the most part. Could argue for UK to move a few spots up.
Obviously Bama is probably the best team in the league but based on resume I see why UGA should be there for now.

You would have a team that got blown out by MSU and lost at home to Troy ranked #3?

Yea man. Bama is number one until proven otherwise. I suggest you gladly take second place. You're without a doubt second in the nation.

How is Auburn manhandling 6-2 Mississippi State a better win than Mississippi State's manhandling of the 6-2 team that beat Auburn?
That logic is flawed, at best.

Pretty easy actually.
*LSU beat Auburn
*Auburn beat Miss St
*Miss State beat LSU
It's circular, and while "who beat who" usually ranks as the #1 critera of ranking teams, in the case of these three you will keep going in a circle forever.
So the tie-breaker?
*Auburn and Mississippi State's 2nd loss were to #6 Clemson and #2 Georgia, respectively. LSU's 2nd loss was to Troy.
*Clearly that should put LSU last in the group of three. That means the question becomes Auburn or Mississippi State at #3. Clearly Auburn's manhandling of State puts Auburn in the top position of those three.
So to answer your question in one word: Logic

I mean, I agree that Georgia has the better win but lets not act like they have played anyone outside of ND.

You can rank UA at 14 for all I care because if we get to Atlanta rankings will not matter the game will determine the best in conference.

So who should be #3 then?
LSU? Then how do you put LSU ahead of Mississippi State who manhandled them?
Mississippi State? How do you put State ahead of Auburn who manhandled them?
You can go in circles with this all day long. Eventually you have to use logic to break the tie, and LSU's loss to the freaking TROY TROJANS is the obvious separation here.

Well the SEC, more importantly, the SEC East is an absolute dumpster fire with 1/2 of its representatives having 0 SEC wins atm. Its not exactly UGA's fault that they have played no one but ND.

I do see what you are saying... But, no (IMHO). Might as well bring a sign that says "We want Bama". Unlike other teams, bama has been consistently good/great since 2009.
Should not matter either way, will hopefully find out in the SEC championship game.

Those losses may all be a wash. Moving to each teams second loss shows the variance.

Here is a better circle of events or question. How are UGA fans going to feel if they drop the SECCG in Atlanta to UA and ND goes to the playoffs and UGA does not?

Good work OP.
Can't disagree with any of it.

This. They've proven too many years to be the best. they are the clear leader until somebody can beat them.

Agreed, just like it isn't Bama's fault either.

That's not what he said in the OP. He's giving Auburn credit for beating State, but giving State no credit for beating LSU.

Auburn at 3 is fine but this is disingenuous. State's win over LSU is just as impressive as Auburn's win over State at this point.
