I've been everywhere but Columbia, College Station and the Mississippi's. Baton Rouge underrated here IMO and Fayetteville too high.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 34.7 percent of College Station’s population is living below the poverty line, with the highest number of people falling between the ages of 18 and 24.
The issue of college poverty is more concentrated at A&M, according to Megan Ford, kinesiology junior and executive director of The 12th Can. “We’re above the state and national average for poverty, so one in five people in this area are food insecure, which is actually higher than most universities,” Ford said.

There are a lot of things you could say about our stadium location that I won't argue with, even though it has improved leaps and bounds the last 5 or 6 years, but tailgating space? That one lets me know the writer has never been to a game or the city.

Nashville is not a "college town"

Half of the town’s 120,00 residents are University of Florida students and a visit to “The Swamp” would satisfy any college football fan.

Does this mean "hungry", or "not sure where the next meal is coming from"?

is atlanta a college town, IYO? Nashville is a friggin city that just so happens to contain a college within the city limits. It's not a "college town".

Fayetteville is one of the best and Baton Rouge overall makes me feel like the murder capital of the SEC.

A 10 sf space behind your car in the fairgrounds is not space...

I was curious too- here's the definition - so maybe both or either of yours work.

I'd argue that both Tuscaloosa and Columbia are not just a little but significantly better "towns" than Gainesville, FL. That's not a "I hate UF" troll... but I lived in Orlando and spent a fair amount of time in Gainesville... it's just not all that nice. I've spent a ton of time in Columbia, and while you can knock the *stadium location*... there are great pieces/parts of Columbia that Gainesville just can't touch. I only took one trip to Tuscaloosa, so maybe I'm missing something, but I'd easily have it higher on the list than Gainesville as well.
Knoxville I can't really grade fairly at this point because I haven't really explored in probably 5+ years and by all accounts they've had a lot of more recent development.
Columbia, MO was not impressive... I certainly wouldn't have it in the top 5...
Never been to Oxford or Fayetteville, but friends have had good reviews in the past.
Nashville is a great place. Athens I'm biased on, but sure... #1 sounds right.

The name "Starkville" is a clue.

I would too but the criticism is not without some merit. The campus and area around campus are one of the top five in the SEC. The downtown is coming along, its not there yet but I was just there a few weeks ago and the construction and things moving in are awesome. The river is great too. But the rest of the town looks like any other city. Huge caveat on that though. The campus community is growing. It used to stop at 15th street but now it is growing there too.

Ahhh.... another insecure whorn troll with a massive inferiority complex quoting an article to try and slam a school they claim to be better than.....

The history of everything outside of campus being an eyesore remains with Tuscaloosa. But it’s night and day from 15 years ago. A ways yet to go, but it’s better than some listed about it on this list.

Why are you on an SEC message board?
Sorry you didn't get an invite. We're happy with A&M.
