The entire point of NY6 bowls is that you play good teams. Not being favored in any of them just means everyone knew his teams didn’t belong there in the first place.
Essentially everyone knew his teams sucked and he proved everyone right every year.

There was a thread yesterday campaigning for Mike Leach to be in the HOF for 5 loss seasons at average to below average programs and then threads about how Brian Kelly actually sucks because he's lost to the #1 team in the country 3 of the 5 major Bowls he's been to. The rant trolling playbook in a nutshell.

He's been at LSU one season. LSU was a bad football team the past 2 seasons. You predicted them to go 7-5 for a reason. Would you have expected any coach in college football to win an SEC Title with this team? Do you think you can maybe let him coach a few seasons before deciding how good or bad he'll be at LSU, or is refraining from hot take trolls just too difficult for you?
Kelly outperformed everyone's expectations this season. That is positive. You acting as if there's no reason for LSU fans to think he did a great job in year 1 is dumb.

Why should I care what he did elsewhere when he's done a great job in his only year for my team? Did I care about what Saban did at Michigan St, Miles did at Oklahoma St, or Orgeron did at Ole Miss? No, I only cared about what they did at LSU. When they did something less than good at LSU, I criticized them for it.
