The hard part is that I doubt many of us have gone to 10 basketball venues. Memorial Gym is incredible though when it gets packed out. The Auburn Arena could be a really fun place if fans would ever show up and care. For UK and Ole Miss last year, the student section was awesome, but the rest of the building was pretty dead.

Carrier Dome is a football stadium. Its cool that a bunch of people can be there, but I never got the appeal.

I would say:

Viejas Arena (SDSU homer pick)
Allen Fieldhouse (KU)
Palestra (UPenn)
Assembly Hall (IU)
Hinkle Fieldhouse (Butler)
The Pit (UNM)
Williams Arena (The Barn) (Minnesota)
Cameron Indoor (dook)
KFC Yum Center (UL)
Arkansas' arena (Don't know the name)

Large upper decks don't do it for me (UK,UNC) and hockey/basketball places(NCSU,Ohio State, Creighton)

My criteria: Atmosphere, noise, tradition, student section, high rate of winning.

The O'Dome is certainly one of the toughest places for opposing teams to play and has a great student section, but I don't think it has enough history and/or aesthetic value to be Top 10.

Now this offseason it is getting completely overhauled and should change the look quite a bit, maybe then it will warrant such a ranking.

Good call, they don't make them like that anymore.

Venues or atmospheres? Some of those would be the equivalent of saying that Wrigley Field is a top 5 MLB stadium.

Pittsburgh (my personal favorite and it isn't even close)

Texas Tech (But nobody usually goes to their games)

And of course the Spaceship

If it wasn't empty all the time, South Carolina would make this list, at least as an honorable mention.

But it's empty all the time

For basketball anyways.

Bud Walton is top 5. Otherwise you're just being a stupid Mizzutard.

Yeah I've been to Assembly Hall. It's awesome but comparing it as an actual venue to a place like Bud Walton Arena is a joke. Great atmosphere though.

Bud Walton seats nearly 20k. When it is jacked, its fricking insane. It still shocks me how loud it gets.

It was designed for loudness.

The lowerdeck alone of BWA>>>>most SEC venues.

The atmosphere kinda sucks now under Cuonzo but TBA is pretty damn nice..

I don't know where it would rank with the other great arenas because I haven't been to many.

We really do need to renivate Coleman, or better yet, tear it down. It looks pathetic compared to everyone else.

I'd put Pauley Pavilion up there along with The Pete (Pitt).
