Miami/FSU - Both in easier conference with decent/good coaches and a plethora of talent to choose from

Nebraska - Wide open conference with a slightly unstable, but talented coach.

Tennessee - Future looks good, on paper. We'll see if this coaching change is the one to stick.

USC/Texas - Insane talent already on roster, but coaching change is needed at both to turn them in the right direction.

Yeah...FSU is really right now, at the razors edge of 'elite'. Could be argued they are...just depends on criteria I guess.

Texas is #1. They'll be back as soon as they replace Mack. Per CFBMatrix, which ran the numbers, if you go back and remove all the players from every team's recruiting classes for the past 5 years that are no longer with their respective programs or didn't make it to campus at all, because of Texas' low attrition, they have the most talent (per an aggregation of recruiting services' data) of ANY TEAM.

Goes a long way to proving that Mack is a reficulous underachiever and ALSO that any coach worth a damn could turn it around in a season.

Texas- They are getting the players they just don't have the coach
FSU- They went to the orange bowl last year so they could be getting there
UT- Bright future if Butch keeps recruiting like he is now, and being in the SEC helps
USC- How soon are they willing to can Kiffin
Miami- being 3rd behind UF and FSU might make it a long road for the U
Nebraska- they are good but can they ever go back to what they were in the 90s?

5) Tennessee (when demographics radically change or they get a coach that can consistenly recruit all over the Southeast)

Apparently, that would be now...

I will rank them, but also list what they would need to do to accomplish it.

1) Texas (need new coach)
2) USC (need new coach)
3) Florida St (need coaching staff consistency)
4) Miami (culture change)
5) Tennessee (too much out of their control, but still possible)
6) Nebraska (I'm skeptical it can be done at all)

My thoughts exactly.

In response to another commenter, too bad USC couldn't take advantage of the BCS while they were owning the PAC 12. The days of USC + everyone else are over for the near future.
