I've lived in SC and in Georgia.
As I said UGA / GT is a fierce and hated rivalry between schools, fans, players, and coaching staffs, I’ll concede 2nd only to Mizzou-Kansas. The only place that Clean Old Fashioned Hate isn’t competitive, at the moment, is on the scoreboard. Which, as any Mizzou Tiger or Jayhawk can tell you (or any actual ALUM of any college with a rival), doesn’t mean jack.

In-state rivalries will always be the most intense.

None of those rivalries mean anything outside of their state.

I will say that we do have a bit of "proximity bias" ... With Southern rivalries but i didn't realize how much KU and Mizzou get after it until I got married. My inlaws went to KU but my FILs family all went to Mizzou and I'm impressed at the level of comments
My favorite to this day...I took my wife's paternal Mizzou following grandfather to Columbia in'14. To see Bama v Tigers ..it stormed that day. We drive back to STL and my FI L had gone out and bought a Mizzou door mate and meet us at the door and points down "on a day like today everyone needs a good doormat - even if they are on scholarship"

Kansas / Mizu - Only one based on an actual war. Also only one that BOTH team historically suck balls.
And yet, Mizzou owns the piggies.

By far in eastern Mississippi the largest contingent of sidewalk fans are the stupid, redneck Mississippians who root for Alabama. If you think regular Alabama fans are obnoxious wait until you meet one of these gems.
Don’t sell the Coast and SW Miss LSU fans. Good God they can be more obnoxious than the Louisiana resident LSU fans.

It’s a unique hatred. I’d help my jayhawk neighbor if he was in distress, but I delight in his defeats more than my own victories and he feels the same. It’s a beautiful thing.
Lived across the street from a jayhawker for a spell. We actually got along pretty well other than school thing.
Not sure who started it but the winner of each contest would plant our school’s flag in the other’s front yard.
After one basketball loss I arrived home to see that rag planted in my yard. I promptly took it down.
A day or two later he knocked on my door to reclaim his flag. I told him “sure, wait here”. I then grabbed a legal sized envelope, went to my fireplace and filled the envelope with scooped up ash. Returning to the door I handed him the envelope, said “here ya go” and slammed the door. The look on his face was priceless!??

Sacked twice, in 2007 Mizzou fans were buying shirts of a famous print of Lawrence burning with scoreboard under it. Last game vs the 2 the Mizzou locker room had the Q Flag that Quantrill carried on the 2nd burning of Lawrence.

Agree. Severely underrated and under appreciated by some. Nothing like a Tiger vs. Jayhawk brawl. There is next-level hate. Not just sports at all.

This.
I'm glad we left them in the Big 12 when we did, because towards the end there, things were getting as toxic and nasty as I've ever experienced. "Hate" just doesn't do justice to the feeling.
