SEC Head Coaching Jobs Ranked (Tiered List)
TIER 1 — The Big 3 (Elite National Jobs)

Alabama – Best job in CFB. Money, talent, tradition.

Georgia – Bama’s equal with better in-state recruiting.

Texas – Unlimited resources + NIL + recruiting. Expectations are insane.

TIER 2 — Blue-Blood, Championship-Capable

LSU – Every coach wins titles. Loaded in-state talent.

Florida – Huge upside, huge pressure.

Oklahoma – Blue-blood strength, even with tougher SEC path ahead.

TIER 3 — High Ceiling, High Chaos

Texas A&M – Money and talent everywhere, results never match hype.

Tennessee – Massive fanbase, good resources, recruiting challenges.

Auburn – Can win big, but booster chaos makes it volatile.

TIER 4 — Solid Jobs With Real Limitations

South Carolina – Passionate fans, brutal recruiting neighborhood.

Arkansas – Great culture, tough geography.

Ole Miss – Fun job, limited recruiting footprint.

Mississippi State – Good culture, lowest resources in the West.

TIER 5 — Lower Ceiling / Newer SEC Fits

Missouri – Low pressure, limited recruiting.

Kentucky – Stable, but basketball-first school.

TIER 6 — The Bottom

Vanderbilt – Amazing school, brutal football job.

Our more national titles, SEC titles, 1st round draft picks, bowl wins, playoff appearance, weeks ranked, and wins say otherwise. The Barn is not Tennessee bud

On no planet is Texas a better job than Bama or Georgia.

LSU, Oklahoma, Texas and A&M are close. Yes I’d have LSU ahead of any of the other 3.

Florida, the barn and the stinking Vols round out the next tier.

Honestly the rest don’t matter.

Alabama is still the gold standard in the SEC.
I think LSU has really hurt its branding with this recent fiasco. It will come back, but right now, it doesn't look as appealing as it once did.
Ole Miss looks a lot better than it used to look. I'd say it's definitely in the top ten SEC jobs.
Arkansas looks worse than Vanderbilt. In fact, I'd rank Vandy ahead of SC, Auburn, Missouri, Kentucky or Miss State.
OU is still an elite job. Top ten in the country.

OU could be the best job in the country if they could get their head out of their asses.

Texas A&M is not the second best job in the conference with its last national title being 1939. Plus no conference championships since 1998

All time win record shouldn’t be a parameter for what the better job is in my opinion.

If you are a coach, you are probably looking at program support (from both administrators and alumni), facilities, NIL, and to some extent regional talent pool (although the NIL and transfer portal has diminished that extensively) and then history.

Given those, I think my list would be

1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Texas
4. Texas A&M
5. LSU (only because of the recent hijinks by your administration - otherwise top three)
6. Oklahoma
7. Auburn
8. Tennessee
9. Everybody else

1- Alabama (2 greatest coaches in the sport's history. 5 total coaches have won national titles. Blue-est of the blue bloods...top program all-time plus top program overall the past decade+)

2- Georgia

3- LSU

4- Texas

5- Florida

6- Oklahoma

7- Tennessee

8- Texas A&M

9- Auburn

All Time Win List

By your logic, Yale, with 18 football championships, is a powerhouse.

Please explain how stats from over 10 years ago have any relevance today?

Curry and Franchione both QUIT due to the fanbase. We all have seen "The Running of the Gumps". Alabama has a lot going for them, but having to deal with those people brings that job down a few notches. Plus you have to live and work in Tuscaloosa.

For anyone under the age of 70, Auburn has been the more successful program during their lifetime, and stretch that to 80 years for people old enough to remember.

I'd say UGA might be first.

UGA has a couple of things going for it.

1 - They give their coaches a LONG time to succeed. Donnan got 5 years. Goff got 6 with the last 3 being 5-6, 6-4-1 and 6-6. Those are the shortest UGA terms since 1964.

2 - Unless you believe GT is "back", they're effectively the only team of note in a very talent rich state.

3 - They have plenty of money.

4 - They are located in Athens, a city so nice that every UGA head coach since 1964 who's retired has moved back there to live.

5 - They have a ton of name recognition, especially after the latest two NC's.

UGA is effectively a place that is about as easy to win at as Bama with less expectations and a better talent base.

1. Alabama - tradition, money, rednecks
2. UGA - see above, and far enough away from ATL
3. LSU - coonasses, hot women, Nawlins
4. Texas - would be higher without all the gays
5. Vandy - great city and no pressure
6. A&M - tons of money and gays are mostly non violent
7. South Carolina - passionate hicks, share state with cultists
8. Ole Miss - mostly classy, hotties, undergirded by redneck lawyers
9. Florida - dysfunctional, meth, good athletes nearby
10. Tennessee - unrealistic expectations, heart disease, cellulite
11. Auburn - cool town, meddling fat hicks
12. Oklahoma - not built for the SEC, great fans, nice people
13. Missouri - no pressure from purple haired Karens
14. Kentucky - easy being the afterthought
15. Arkansas - just a fish out of water. See Oklahoma and think “lil bro”
16. Miss State - lovable losers but poors
