When it comes to playing the ib what in your mind is worse

Losing the way bama did last year or just getting completely blown out

The reason why I ask is that for me I'd rather LSU just get blown out than lose on the last play (which for the most part is the same thought as most fans) but being you guys have one of the most heated rivalries Id have to imagine getting destroyed by your rival has to be worse right?

Close losses stick with you for alot longer than blow outs.

depends on how the season is going. Obviously in 2012, by the time of the iron bowl, no one really cared

The close losses are the ones I remember....I still get pissed thinking about Van Tiffin kicking the winning FG in 1985. On the other hand, I have just about completely blocked out any memory of the 2008 or 2012 game.

And that's how I feel too for just regular games. I'm wondering if in a true rivalry if just getting destroyed eats at you a little more. Does this thinking and feelings change bc of the rivalry

If we ever lost 49-0 to Auburn I would want to shut the program down

Consecutive 48 point losses in the late 1800s, just missed avoiding a century of white trash.

This is true, but for whatever reason Ill always take a good close game over a blowout.

I hear what ur saying so let's say everything is on the line like last yrs ib and for the most part it should be a very competitive game

What's worse. Losing in the last sec or getting just smoked 49-0

The close losses hurt worse than getting blown out, but they provide much more memorable games. Those memories and emotions are why we like cfb and our teams, so I vote for the close loss over the blowout. The crushing defeats also enhance the emotions for the corresponding victories, imo.

Using last years game as the model, I would say it would have been worse getting blown out.

I'd rather have been beaten by 49...especially if there is so much on the line like in 2013.

A blowout us bigger bragging rights for the winner, but close losses probably sting the loser more.

Losing the IB sucks anyway you look at it. The close losses stick in my mind the longest though...ie 2009.

2009 was worse than 2012.

if everything was on the line, I would be disheartened if we lost 49 to zero. a close loss in dramatic fashion would leave me with the constant, what ifs. Both would be equally bad in different ways

Getting smoked is always worse if the teams are perceived as even.

For instance, had lsu beaten Alabama by two touchdowns in November 2011, then there is no chance they lose by 3 touchdowns on 1/9.

A close game keeps you in the hunt.

I look back at our nc game with BAMA as a benchmark. We aren't true rivals but for the most part it shoulda been a good competitive game. Then 21-0 happen with the most on the line and being on the wrong side of it I def wish we woulda lost by a last second fg than the way LSU performed, or didn't perform.
