I think he is a good coach. His downfall at Texas was purportedly that he is very weird and an a-hole, and did not have the interpersonal skills required to navigate recruiting and the politics that exist at any big program. Apparently, one high school coach called him "Texas A&M's best recruiter" due to how offputting he was.

That said I actually wouldn't be surprised to see him succeed at FAU due to the low profile job and the kids he'll be working with, which likely will have much less ego than 5 and 4 star bluechips.

As for whether it was a good call to shitcan him, yes it was probably a better bet than letting him try to right the ship. There were stories about his own players on the roster actively recruiting against him. No way for me to know if it's true. But even in his media pressers you could tell the guy was a total dipshit, and if his public persona was that awful, he is probably exhausting to be around and work for. Deliver success immediately and you can get away with that, but he didn't, so on to the next.

So the pampered players are the problem? texas kids you recruit must have been weened on orange slices and juice boxes.

Most of the ones we get wind up being good players, but we don’t go heavy on olinemen for some reason. Skill players and dbacks and linebackers have done well.

Why don't ya'll like playing Missouri?

Honest answer? It's because geographically we vacation in Missouri.. we love it up in the Ozarks. Get to go to Branson, river tubing etc. You have to realize that there is very little population north of Arkansas until you get to KC. So it's hard hating them, it just will never work.

The SEC really f'ed this one up and shouldn't have tried to manufacture something that's not there. Playing Missouri is like a non conference game, it should be the first game we play in a season, not at the end of the season.

LSU was much better to play on Black Friday. Nobody goes to LSU to vacation, it sucks.

Now show the record for the last 20 meetings. Nobody's wearing zuit suits or poodle skirts these days. The series has been much closer since 1950, save the 1970's.

Y'all use the all-time record for A&M but not Texas?

I don't mind playing Arkansas last but I never liked the Black Friday game. A lot of fans would miss the game because it fricked with their Thanksgiving travel plans.

I get that. But the set up was so much better overall and it was still a great game. The Mizzou game is meaningless to us and it wouldn’t matter if we did beat them every year because at least some years when we played y’all, we both had something on the line that late in the season or there were major conference implications related to the game’s outcome.

I can still remember Tannehill flipping us all off in the student section after a TD. That was more passion than any SEC moment in Missouri and aTm combined.

Great series.

Give us our annual cock showdown.

Yeah. I think that the Arkansas/Mizzou game is completely cringe and fake and neither of us see each other in a manner that would equate to a “rivalry” even if we had an even series record. We also could have just played Texas every year OOC if they weren’t such pussies.

I really don't. I couldn't really care less what happened 100, 50, 30, or even 20 years ago. But if you do look at the last 20 meetings, Arkansas vs Texas is one game from being even. That was my point.

On the flipside, in the last 20 meetings, A&M owns a 13 to 7 game advantage thanks to a really shitty decade for us. A decade in which I will readily admit that A&M has owned us in wins/losses. He'll, most teams have.

Nowhere to go but up from there though.
