I like your skewed numbers. Go back one more year and it is three SEC titles in 20 years.

There is no regular season game that Saban cares more about than the LSU game. That is the one he spends so much time preparing for.

I'd say he prepares more for whoever our opener is.

I think Saban cares more about the Iron Bowl then you give him credit for. After the 28-27 loss in 2010, posters were put up in the locker room showing the picture of the halftime score and a picture of the final score with the message "Never Again" printed over it. Since then, Alabama has not allowed Auburn to score an offensive touchdown.

I was about to post a picture of this, but alas, you beat me to it. This is also the same guy running up and down the sidelines of the 2008 Iron Bowl screaming for the team to not get complacent because "do you know how much I hate these frickers?", or something to the like...

Certainly true. Of course he cares more as has every coach that has coached at either school since 1950.

Gumps that say otherwise just show their insecurities TBH.

Those were his exact words. Except he said "don't you know...". It was right after halftime in the 3rd quarter in 2008 when bama's lead was not that big and AU was showing some signs of life.

The next drive though bama ran it down AU's throat and essentially ended the game, so they responded well.

I'm not knocking Bama. Bama's 22 SEC titles are far more impressive than the 10
National titles. A national title in CFB is based upon votes. Since 2004 , all I've cared about was SEC titles. You can go undefeated and not get a chance to play for a national title. Also, you can't get voted into the SECCG. After every single BCSCG there are analyst ad sports talk guys questioning whether the right teams were chosen. This has never happened in the SECCG. It's the one title that is void of bias. Bama is the greatest program in the SEC and IMO the greatest program ever. I have best friends that are Bama fans and I actually pull for Bama in every game except when they play LSU. I only posted in this thread because a GUMP said that y'all don't care about SEC title. That is bullshite. Before 2012, there were 19 year olds that had seen Bama win 2 SEC titles in their entire life.

Lot of what bama fans say is bullshite.

Don't care bout SEC titles, don't care bout AU, 15 NCs, etc.

Sad a program that has been so good has fans that remain so insecure about it.

There are a lot of great Bama fans that are knowledgable about football. Some that I consider brothers. Then their are gumps who lets Bama football define them as a person. I know every fan base has them, but Bama has a plethora of them.

Wrong. In the event of a 3 way divisional tie, the "winner" of the division is based on BCS ranking. So, in fact you can be "voted" into the SECCG.

An actual example of this occurring was the 2008 Big 12 season. TTU, TEX, and OU all tied for 1st in the Big 12 South.

I wouldn't want to give the boogs the satisfaction that we're thinking about them that much.

but i mean, i wouldn't lose sleep over it if he kept winning like he is. in fact, we may need him to start talking about them like that because if we keep destroying them like this, then no one will care and it will bring drama to the matchup and demoralize them that much more because i don't' care who you are... if someone is talking smack about you year-round you're going to want to beat them that much worse than you already do.

How about 1978 where Bama lost H2H to USC yet still claims a split NC with USC?

As to 1978..... AP National Champs, legit

This was the year that #2 Alabama defeated #1 Penn State, the only undefeated team in the nation, in the Sugar Bowl.... the famous "Goal Line Stand".

Alabama started the season ranked #l in the AP. USC pre season ranked #9.

Bama's only loss that year was to #7 USC which dropped Alabama from #1 to #7 in week #3. USC jumped from #7 to #2.

Week 6, USC lost to an unranked Arizona St. and dropped from #2 to #7. Meanwhile, Alabama had been moving back up in the polls. So USC had fallen below Bama because of being beaten by an unranked team.

By week nine, only 2 unbeatens... OU and Penn State.
Week 9 top five:
1< 1 Oklahoma (50) Big 8 9-0
2< 2 Penn State (13) Ind 9-0
3< 3 Alabama SEC 8-1
4< 4 Nebraska Big 8 8-1
5< 6 USC Pac-10 7-l

Week 10, OU loses to Neb. and drops. Penn State is #1 and the only undefeated team in the nation. Pollsters jump Neb. above Alabama.
1< 2 Penn State (55) Ind 10-0
2< 4 Nebraska (6) Big 8 9-1
3< 3 Alabama (4) SEC 9-1
4< 1 Oklahoma Big 8 9-1
5< 5 USC (1) Pac-10 8-1

Week 11, Neb. loses and drops out of the top five. Alabama moves up to #2; USC jumps OU for #3.

Week 13 (last week of regular season) - Penn State, bye; Bama beats AU; USC beats Hawaii.
1< 1 Penn State (48) Ind 11-0
2< 2 Alabama (5) SEC 10-1
3< 3 USC (3) Pac-10 11-1
4< 4 Oklahoma (3) Big 8 10-1
5< 5 Michigan Big Ten 10-1

Bowl time! January 1,1979....
#1 Penn State and #2 Alabama SEC Champs were chosen to play in the Sugar Bowl. Bama 14-7
#3 USC Pac-10 champs and #5 Big 10 co-champs played in the Rose Bowl. USC 17-10

When the dust settled, Alabama became #1 by beating the #1 undefeated Penn State on a famous "Goal Line Stand". USC jumped to #2 by beating #5 Michigan.

Final AP poll for 1978...
1< 2 Alabama (38) SEC 11-1 W 14-7 vs #1 Penn State (Sugar)
2< 3 USC (19) Pac-10 12-1 W 17-9 vs #5 Michigan (Rose)
3< 4 Oklahoma (1) Big 8 11-1 W 31-24 vs #6 Nebraska (Orange)
4< 1 Penn State Ind 11-1 L 14-7 vs #2 Alabama (Sugar)
5< 5 Michigan Big Ten 10-2

The Rising Of The Tide
Alabama beat Penn State 14-7 in the Sugar Bowl to lay claim to the national title

And USC's win over Michigan in the Rose Bowl, on tailback White's TD....

"Phantom touchdown".... While diving toward the end zone, White was stripped of the ball by Michigan linebacker Ron Simpkins, who recovered and gained possession for the Michigan offense at its 1-yard line. Even White was surprised by the touchdown call, having thumped his fist into the turf for fumbling at such a key point in the game.

How would you feel if Nick Saban talked about the Iron Bowl every week of the year as if it were the only game that mattered?

What if he installed an Iron Bowl countdown clock in the locker room?

Just curious.

He did. Post 2010, "Never Again" was a motto that led the charge to the national title. Since that game, Auburn has been outscored 91-14 and they have failed to score an offensive touchdown in 8 quarters.

It's not that we don't think about them, we just drove them into an irrelevant low that few of their fans had ever seen. All while winning two national titles.

Agree that we have more than our share of fans who let the football program define them as a person. And of course we care about winning SEC titles.

As for TigerNMiami, he's a full fledged kool-aid drinking auburn fan, whose every comment is completely tainted by Bama hate. So forgive me if I don't join in the "let's all be reasonable" mantra he's singing today. Just as we have Bama fans who make outrageous statements, you have auburn fans like him who live to discredit anything crimson.

'Cept I am right 99.97% of the time. Which is often why gumps don't like me when I point out the truth.

As the other poster said, plenty of great bama fans. My best 3 friends are all bama fans. One bama grad, one an AU grad but MASSIVE bama homer, and my best friend from HS.

But the single biggest problem with the bama fanbase as a whole is the number of gumps who actually derive significant self worth from alabama football. That IMO is pitiful and it does define a large portion of the bama fanbase. Larger than in any other fanbase in the country IMO.
