Question for Aggies: If A&M falls apart toward end of season, is Sumlin fired?

For the record, I'm rooting for A&M to win the West. After A&M dispatched the Hogs with the ease you did (a Hog team which I predicted would win the West), I immediately purchased one way tickets to Atlanta aboard the Jizz Train! Choo choo!

But, for sake of argument, if A&M falls apart in late October and November would that spell trouble for Sumlin?

I guess I should also ask: With A&M performing so well right now, what are your expectations for this team in 2016? Does Sumlin have to win big to keep his job, or are you satisfied with Sumlin?

I thought you were a Bama fan?

He doesn't know. Mizzou's complete breakdown after two years of winning the East has broken his brain.

Depends on the availability of Herman. Hopefully, he is smart enough not to waste his time in BR.

A&M is not going to fall apart as this season progresses.

This is a complete, well coached, football team.

They've got it going-on at all positions ... especially in the trenches.

This team also appears to have excellent chemistry.

If LSU still has a chance then Arkansas still has a chance

It seems exceedingly unlikely at this point. We're a pretty good team, and we only have 5 "losable" games left on the schedule (Tennessee, Bama, Ole Miss, MSU, and LSU). If we lose all 5 of those, then, yea, he'd get canned. But we're not going to lose all 5 of those. If we lost 4 of those and finished at 8-4, then he'd feel some heat, but he'd probably survive.

Most likely, we're a 9-3 team.

If we go 7-5, he will get fired. 8-4 he probably stays but it will be close. I think we finish the regular season 9-3, perhaps 10-2

Basically what Hugh said

Losing to this year's version of MSU would be inexcusable for this A&M team.

I see A&M losing a close one to Alabama, and losing one more to either OM or Tenn - probably OM. LSU would have to fix a LOT in a short time frame to really be a big threat to A&M.

It's still losable. I don't think this happens but if we fall apart like we did the past two years we could definitely drop that game

All things remaining equal, this is what I see happening as well.

The game is almost 2 months away.

Are we talking getting blow outs and losing to bad teams (i'm looking at you LSU) on the way to 8-5? I would so so. Are we talking finishing 9-4 with marginally close losses to Bama, UT, OM, and a quality bowl team. While that is only a game difference I would say, not a chance.

He'd go to A&M over LSU. Everyone knows that. I'm not sure he would over tu or USC.

Where did the "Herman wants to coach in Texas" rumor start? I'm not doubting you, but has he ever said that? I see people mention it all the time but I've never seen a quote from him saying that Texas is his dream job or where he wants to be.

The same place as the "Fisher was a done deal and on the plane" rumors started.

Amigo, everyone knows Texas is the dream job for all coaches. Ask any horn. They will tell you.
