Florida knew a fricking hurricane was coming

On Monday, the track of the storm had it past Gainesville by game time. Now it isn't projected to go as far north and will have a greater impact on central Florida.

How is this hard to understand

Yep, I also know the definition of pompous. L5U just wanted another home game.

We would've lost money or broke even at best. It wasn't about money.

Gainesville will have gorgeous football weather of Saturday, the storm will be well North by Saturday.
If this storm stays on its current track Gainesville is looking at a stormy day on Friday with zero catastrophic effects.

A dozen NFL stadiums aren't being used this weekend

A very good point. Out of curiosity, how much to acquire one on short notice, and who flips the bill?

As a third party who's team is going to get whipped this weekend (I'm not trolling): outside of the game, this is a business for the Universities and the conference. I'd say the game was pushed based on fiscal concerns opposed to a W or L in the column. At the end of the day, that's ALL ANY OF THE Universities and Conference cares about.

Edit: Fans and boosters care about the W and L

Care to comment on why a tentative Sunday or Monday game could not have been offered with a wait and see stance?
Because the hurricane is already past the two Miami games, and the UCF game is in the middle of the state....while they don't know where this bitch is coming onshore?

gumps (there is a difference in a gump and a bama fan) have actually moved up a rung. I never thought I would live to see the day.

It's not conspiracy if it keeps happening. You give me a good reasonable situation where FL couldn't look into moving this earlier in the week when everyone knew this could happen. You err on the side of caution, IF you really want to get something accomplished without a setback. This could and should have been done earlier in the week. It was Florida's choice not to act when everyone had plenty of time. It wasn't a risk for FL only for LSU. It's pathetic and FL should and will one way or another pay for it.

I have a good idea it would cost less than it would cost to buy out both South Alabama and Presbyterian, reimburse LSU ticket holders as well as LSU for lost gameday revenue for the SAU game

State resources will be used for those games. Resources that you feel could be better used for relief efforts.

The storm will be long gone by Monday. So now we are at a place where the resource excuse is invalid, and the timing and location excuse is invalid.

Now what?

So if and when LSU gets a lesser bowl or gets shafted out of the championship game would that not affect our business that is LSU in a big freakn way? There were options out there where Florida could have made money BUT they decided to opt out of that option. I'm sure there were more but they had our stadium as an option also. This is bullshite also!!

Florida Atlantic is in Boca Raton, just north of Miami...hundreds of miles south of Gainesville. Who is keeping up?

Of course, because this is just a passing thunderstorm where we all shrug our shoulders and say thanks to what could have been...
