I know it isn't a big deal for Georgia fans, but damn, first time without Georgia on our schedule since 1991. So weird.

Going back to 1958, South Carolina and Georgia have only gone 5 seasons without playing (1965, 1972, 1973, 1990, and 1991).

If true, I find it weird that basically every fan knows that Georgia has not played in College Station yet, but the commissioner/committee seems to have no idea.

Damn, we’re clearly more scared of AM than Bama and Texas.

Underrated one-sided rivalry, in my opinion

I wouldn’t call it a rivalry. USC is just one of our division opponents

Odd not seeing UGA SC on the schedule.

I kind of think you're right and wrong here.

It's a bit historically one-sided... so it's not exactly a rivalry.

But they're also a bit more than another divisional opponent, because we played them a ton before they joined the SEC and divisions were put into place. It's got more history that UGA has with Tennessee for example.

Clemson and SC were mainstay's of UGA's scheduling before SC joined the SEC.

Based on this, TV eyeballs are definitely directing the schedule. UGA-TAMU no one really cares about. Texas-UGA moves the general pop needle.

No they're not. USC's in the Pac-12 and we haven't played them since 1960.

South Carolina, however, is one of our division opponents. Perhaps this is the team you're referring to.

We played for decades as out-of-conference opponents. It's why I called it an "underrated one-sided rivalry".

The real surprise here is that UGA still will not be going to College Station and A&M. After all the clamor and fuss about it, something the SEC higher-ups have long known about, they would have sent the Dawgs to A&M. Incredulous.

I've already received a few phone calls from friends back in Georgia upset about this, too. They've wanted to make the trip and were expecting it to happen next year, but nope, it ain't gonna be.

people throw the word "rival" aroudn too loosely. SC is not our rival, although I agree they are in a different class than say vandy or UK. But just because they aren't in the pile of "here's a bunch of random teams we play sometimes", doesn't also make them a rival.

Tech, Florida, and AU are our rivals. 3 is more than the vast majority of teams out there already. Tennessee is not a rival. Bama is not a rival. Just because you have some memorable and very important games with someone doesn't make them a rival.

You're far too young to understand the historicity of UGA's opponents of the past and present. I'm not.

South Carolina is, indeed, a rival of UGA. So are Tennessee and Alabama. They are NOT an "arch-rival", or chief rival as in Auburn, Florida and Georgia Tech. But, they are a rival of ours.

Definition of rival: a person or thing competing with another for the same objective or for superiority in the same field of activity.

You could use an education at a more superior level than high school.

We played them nearly every year for 3 decades prior to the SEC East existing.

I am not saying it’s a rival, but they are one of our top 6 most played opponents, 73 times. For them, we’re their second most played opponent.

Quit playing your biggest rival at neutral site then.

I have a hunch I'm as in tune, and likely more so, with the subject than you

right. So by the dictionary definition UT Martin and Ball State are also our rivals since we will be competing with them head to head on the gridiron with the goal of emerging victorious. Putting semantics aside I'm talking about the more generally accepted use of the word.

UGA has 3 rivals which I'e already mentioned above. In addition there are different what I like to call nemeses taht come and go, sometimes for very long stretches. Clemson is a picture perfect example of this. In the early 80s there was no fiercer game than UGA/clemson. Those were some knock out drag out battles, and it' sa team we've played a shitton throughout our history. In the 90s the clemson fervor dissipated a bit while UT took that spot primarily due to them beating us every year and rising to national prominence themselves. Modern days it's bama just due to the mega-important games we have with them.

It looks like we are somewhat saying the same thing in a roundabout way, you jsut chose to be smarmy about it and once again play your age card, as if being old makes you more corect or more knowledgeable on the topic somehow.
