Its crazy that with a win Bama should be looking at a first win bye but with a loss they're possibly out altogether. Then if Bama does win and gets the bye, its even stranger that a 2 loss sec team would be good enough for the top four in country and a bye while another 2 loss sec team, Vanderbilt, is left out completely.

Perfect example of what massive conferences can do to scheduling disparity.

If they had a 16 team playoff this season, Vandy, Miami and Notre Dame would be comfortably in the discussion. That’s where it’s heading anyways

Sure but then we're all still arguing about who should be #16. Expanding the field again doesnt really solve anything. Im sure they'll go to 16 eventually because of money but its going to be the same exact problem.

Conference play-in games are the future of the sport. Conference Championships are a thing of the past. NBA and MLB have play in single elimination games to allow teams to advance to the playoffs. I agree the expansion to 16 likely won’t solve the bigger problem but doing away with the CCG will alleviate one major headache now.

Georgia has to be a little worried about what happened last year in the SEC title game. Sure they beat Texas but they lost their QB in that game. How much effort will OSU put into their CCG against Indiana? Day is a great strategist so I’m thinking he’s not going to go balls to the wall with the much bigger prize in mind. The CFP trophy

Not including Ohio State is there any team in the top12 you would not want to play more than Alabama? Maybe Georgia but they probably changes Saturday. Alabama is not Nick Saban Alabama but they are as worthy as any team in the top 12 win or lose Saturday. I hope UGA beats them like a rented mule and they aren’t in but it’s far more likely that it’s a close game and both are in and one is hosting a home game. The most likely outcome is Alabama wins and they aren’t both somewhere in the 5-7 range. If UGA wins close Bama is probably 10-12 and will beat the brakes off 5-7.

I mean I really like this team but we are very flawed. We are tough and we don't blink in tough situations, but our QB is not playing his best ball, we can't run the football, our OC loses his mind for blocks of the game and our kicker is a head case.

I don't think we do (or should) strike fear into anyone, but we will fight our arse off.

BYU is going to lose bigly, and the domers will be out as they should be.

The problem is that BYU is no more deserving than Vandy or Texas.

ND should be out regardless.

it's a shame there's even a conversation about it. this may be the "excuse" needed to further expand the playoffs to 16. now we'll have the 17th place team crowing about not being in.

the 12 team playoff was designed to make money and that's what it does. it was never about the 12 most deserving teams. there's a reason the top g5 gets a spot, to keep people watching during the reg season. if a teams loses more than one game, stop crying about it. that said, miami should be in over nd based on h2h.

I'm not gonna vote on your comment. It being at 21-0 is perfect.

I wish vandy could have made it. They deserve it more than some of those teams

Texas tech should be 7 and A&M 6.

A&M loss to Texas is better than tech loss to Arizona state

Another longshot but consider, Georgia beats bama by 35+, the Committee is open to reranking teams that won't be playing this weekend.

Couldn't a worse loss to a common opponent be enough for the two teams to switch position in the rankings?
