The bye helps, but having 2 huge emotional games at home then going on the road will be tough. Even if LSU splits Alabama/Texas, Tennessee will play them tough as hell because Lane.

This is the problem. I absolutely like the 9 game conf schedule...I just think the CFP should have put in writing a quantifiable metric to make SOS a significant factor.
Now I don't want to see a 7-5 team in the cfp just because they played a hard schedule, but I also don't want to see a 10-2 Oregon or Miami being slotted in the cfp with their schedules. Actually, the loser of Miami vs Notre Dame should automatically be eliminated from the cfp considering both their schedules.
I want to see big regular season games...not creampuff scheduling to sneak into the cfp like Indiana is doing.

If 5 of those 7 wins are against other playoff teams, then put that 7-5 team in.
I like the "build a resume'" argument.
Rank your best, quality wins.
How many wins does that list get you? 2? 3? 5? 7?
Losses have nothing to do with it until you compare teams with the same amount of quality wins.
Why do quality wins only matter?
Because we are building a playoff. 1 loss and you are out. But if you haven't proven that you can beat playoff teams, then you should not be "gifted" that opportunity in the playoffs (then regular schedule literally would be meaningless). We only have so many playoff spots and they should be earned with quality wins (not avoiding losses).
