The SEC doesn't need your football team we have plenty that will kick your arse. They do need eyeballs, whether on cable or streaming and you don't have them and aTm brings the Texas market.
You're just coming to the realization that, when you do get in, you will be just another mediocre program.
As for your last paragraph, it is funny that both you and A&M had immediate success in the SEC yet the school that dominated you both will suffer mediocrity.
Given, your success in the SEC was the same as the Big 12 - beneficiaries of a weaker division.

Be careful with the bravado…..the Nubs thought they would roll into the Big 10 and be a perennial contender…..guess what?

Nebraska has been down for a long time. They were not competitive when they entered the Big 10 (not counting weak B12 north championships) and cut off their recruiting pipelines when they moved.
It isn’t like it was the 1990’s NU teams that moved to the Big 10.
Want proof of how fall they have fallen, wait for Sept 18.

Texas will carry a ton of weight, and more money than Bama.

Nubs went to B1G not the SEC where recruiting is a lot better and easier to recruits better players! Two different conferences and recruiting in the South is easier and better than in the North. This has been a huge disadvantage for Nubs.

Football is the only reason your school and state are relevant because there sure as shite isn't anything else to do down there except for watching tumbleweeds.

I'm for anything on the schedule that doesn't include McNeese, Central Michigan or NW State.

My biggest gripe about Oklahoma or Texas was their easy regular season schedule to get to the BCS title game or the playoffs. They both manned up and are stepping up to the plate. This is sink or swim time for both, and I think this move is better for all parties.
I don’t believe the Ohio State rumors yet.

A&M was a natural fit. Passionate fan base. A lot of money. Football culture. Agriculture and engineering centered university. Close to Houston. Located in the more “southern” region of Texas culturally speaking. It was no big culture shock like it was with Missouri. Hell you could even argue that A&M was more of a fit than Arkansas.
I get this same feeling with Texas. They have history that aligns with the rest of our big name teams. They have the trophies to back that. They have tradition. They have the money. They have the fan base. The only thing I would argue that they lack is the southern identity that A&M has a little more of. The gap isn’t that significant but it’s noticeable. UT is more southwestern than A&M.
That all being said, OU fits much more with the Big10 culturally. As a state and as a fan base. They’re passionate but not SEC passionate. Oklahoma is borderline Midwestern/Southern. I say it leans Midwestern more than southern. They have the history and tradition for the SEC but if we’re putting current record/status aside, they do not bring as much as people think. Go spend time on a Saturday in Baton Rouge, Tuscaloosa, Auburn, Athens or Oxford. Then compare it to Norman. They don’t tailgate like us. They don’t drink like us. They’re all used to playing 11 AM games and they actually like it.

The fact that I mentioned BCS and playoff went right over your head didn’t it. Try and keep up.

You are very wrong about OU fans. We are extremely passionate about OU. Certainly 1000 times more passionate than UTex fans.
Few people who live in Oklahoma call it a Midwestern state. I saw “few” instead of none only because I can’t fully speak for people in Tulsa. While we hate Texas, we also identify culturally with Texas.
And finally OU hates 11 AM games. That is rumored as one of the final straws that pushed us to make a move. I am not sure what would even prompt you to claim we like them.

Everybody has an 11AM Vanderbilt game eventually.

I would respectfully disagree with your conclusions. I have been to Oklahoma and been around Oklahoma people. I have never thought of them as Midwestern. Might not be as Southern as southern Georgia but more aligned with them than people in say Michigan or Ohio. I think of Oklahoma people as being akin to Arkansas or north Texas.
