It would easily be Kiffin if he didn't get so stubborn about 4th down.

Kirby if they win the SEC.

Otherwise, I like whomever wins the Egg Bowl but Heupel has a case as well.

If his team wins out? Saban. Easily. I'm getting sick of the award being some kind of reward for having the most improved or surprising team.

Kirby or Lane. If Rebs finish 10-2 it’s Lane, otherwise Kirby. Pittman and Leach deserve honorable mention.

1. Kirby (assuming they finish 12-0)
2. Kiffin (assuming they finish 10-2)
3. Pittman (assuming they finish 8-4)

Huepel deserves mention, but you have to go Kirby if they run the table.

Saban and Orgeron won it the last two years with two of the greatest teams in SEC history.

Looking at the history of the award it seems some years it goes to a coach who overachieves a little bit and some other years a coach who successfully guides a dominant team to a championship.

Unless you want to give the award in combination with the SEC championship every year, that's usually how it is going to work out.

Smart. Not only did he assemble this team, but he has presided over one of the best defenses in history.

This is the same problem with the Heisman. So many people can't look past end record which is not the point of the award. Georgia, talent wise, is held and shoulders above everyone else except Alabama, and maybe LSU, Florida and A&M (two of which they didn't even play). Winning the SEC is the baseline and winning the title is not surprising.

CoTY should go to a coach who has exceeded expectations.

I'd front Fisher actually. And my argument would be that he overcame key injuries and got his team back on track after a very rocky start to the season.

Kiffin, Pittman, and Stoops are good answers, too.
