“Communication has been constant the entire time," Golding said. "Everybody does this. Everybody’s targeting us on this. There are multiple teams that have coordinators that have other jobs. They’ve taken head coaching jobs everywhere else. Every year that I was at Alabama when we went to the playoffs, we had coordinators and assistants that had other jobs.
“So all they’re doing is they’re doing two jobs. They have a responsibility to the next institution they’re going to work at. It’s the portal, recruiting, other things. They’re still doing the gameplan prep and they’ll be at practices and all those other things. It’s the big thing for the play-callers and people with significant roles from a practice standpoint to make sure those guys are at the practices, but the idea is the same guys who have coached the same positions all year will do that in this game like they have up to this point.”

Asked to clarify if that meant the six coaches would coach through the national championship game, should Ole Miss reach that point, Golding said this: “They have every opportunity, like they have up to this point, to be able to make that decision. Week in and week out, I don’t dictate whether they do that or not because they’re not employed by me. Up to this point, that is how it’s been and that is my expectation.

Doesn't sound like Ole Miss is trying to kick them out like Moscana and co. seem to be suggesting.

LSU does not really hold any cards here to play. They can force them to come back to BR, but that will just add to the negative image that Kiffin has created around him.

Ole Miss already has staff in place to take over, and that staff has been mirroring the practices.

CWJ is the only possible card, but that would only hurt Charlie in end if he did not see it through. His stock goes up on every win. Lane needs CWJ more, than CWJ needs Lane at this point.

Lane can market, come play with a playoff level OC. Maybe a NC winning OC.

Kiffin needs that, his legacy is currently being a quitter.

The coaches have a legit shot at a national championship. Who knows when they will get another shot. Take it while you can. Doesn't bother me.

lol really?

If Kiffin wanted to, he could easily tell Charlie Weis Jr. that he’s no longer allowed to coach/save Ole Miss.

He’s under contract at LSU with a 300% buyout, is Ole Miss going to pay him 7.5M to coach/save them?

Be grateful that Lane is letting his coaches save Golding’s sorry arse

He's right. A lot of folks are acting like this is the first time ever for this type of thing.

I guess it's just due to both being in the same conference and Kiffin being such a big name.

What recourse does kiffin have if Charlie says no? Fire him and then Charlie stays at ole miss or goes to just about any other college or maybe an nfl job he wants. That would be an even better look for Kiffin

Kiffin’s enforcement lever if Charlie refuses that ultimatum is weeks long litigation. Y’all don’t have the power over Weis that you think you do.

Read it again. The Ole Miss AD is making the decisions, not Golding.

People just trying to start drama. I did not see anything that made me think Ole Miss was distracted from laying the wood to Georgia the other night

Both Pete and the coaches leaving for LSU are just trying to give these players every chance to succeed. They’ve earned that. Anyone who wants otherwise is an arse.

Nothing I've seen indicates Lane is going to pull them. He's a bit dubious to be sure but he seems to be taking a good road here. Nothing to see imo.

It wouldn’t serve anyone well if he did.

Do you have a link to where it was suggested OM was trying to kick them out?

Have you seen the contract?

Do you work in sports/entertainment law?

Do you work for OM or LSU?

You know as much as Matt Moscona

They cannot physically restrain Charlie from coaching in the playoff. Contract disputes result in litigation.

Actually yes, they were all posted on the coaching changes board.

I have screen shots, here is the first few lines.

They also had McDonald and Cox’s contracts too…

quote:
