they're called agents, and they've been working players for years. They just have a better sales pitch right now than ever before.

Who's behind Daniels?
D'wan Mathis is a 4 star former tOSU commit who switched to UGA when Fields switched to tOSU.
He had a brain surgery his freshman year. Practiced with the team all last season despite taking a redshirt.
Insiders (Jim Donnan) have been bullish on Mathis the past 2 seasons from practice. Says he may be the fastest UGA QB ever and a strong arm to boot. The problem is that he has no game reps since HS (which is different from Newman who started last season and Daniel who started 2 seasons ago and last season prior to his ACL).

Good thing Kirby picked up a spare on tPortal
That guy was only medically cleared to play I think a week and a half ago, maybe two weeks.

Actually he's not medically cleared yet...May not be by week one, not sure. Good chance someone else starts week one. If I had to guess based on reviews it's Mathis or Bennett that starts. It's going to be ground and pound the first couple of weeks. Probably won't change the game plan until the bye week before UF.

That's what I said in another thread and -- Bennett will never start for Georgia. I told djs a few weeks ago that I had a suspicion that Mathis would start, and now I'm pretty much settled on that.

Yeah I think your right on Mathis. BTW he IS medically cleared for practice, just not contact...meant to say that earlier.

I thought Mathis would start before Newman got out. A benefit to limited practices and a changing scheme is actually having been with the team to practice.
Picking up an entirely new playbook is hard enough without being a graduate transfer during a pandemic, playing with guys for your first time and trying to develop a reputation.
You guys are in fine hands with Mathis, I think.
