Why does she have to be good? No one else on Vandy's team is any good. She fits right in.

Apparently she's objectively worse.

Ask yourself why their players are quitting the team all of a sudden.

LSU had a Punter who was the team hype man several years ago. He could get the damn locker room fired up before a game, too. It was still pretty weird, though. That’s the only time I’ve ever heard of that.

I suspect there have been many kickers who did this....loads of them from Australia and Europe who are dudes in every sense of the word....if they have proven themselves in the GAME at a comparable level kickers are part of the team. No, they do not practice the same way and are often an afterthought until needed but we have all seen many instances of kickers being team favorites and fan favorites.

Some of them are also head hunting fools...rare, but there are some. GT had a great big old fat punter once who could punt the ball a mile high and 70 yards deep consistently...and pin a team at the goal line when needed...and would, on occasion, put a hit on someone that would get him tossed for targeting today. That dude was, by all outward appearances, as much a beloved team mate as anyone on that team.

And thank the christ we aren't.

I want to dunk a basketball in the NBA. I am 6 foot tall and chunky....it ain't happening.

My wife likes to wood work...and yes, I know, I am a lucky man having a woman interested in wood....but I am talking about wood from a tree. She can not handle a 4X8 Sheet of 3/4 inch MDF by herself...hell, I barely can. she can, however, handle 5 -1/2 inches of the other kind of wood quite nicely.

Men and women are not equal. Women can do things men can't, men can do things that women can't. Men and women should absolutely be considered equals in areas where it is possible...in the eyes of the law, for example...in hiring and job opportunities and earnings...but if you need a 120 pound sheet of plywood loaded into the truck, most likely you are going to need a man.

Yes, but was this during the period that LSU sucked and the punter probably did more work than half the team, or was it a kid who rarely punted because you guys were good?

Also, you are talking about before the game. Not half way through a beat down

That was my thought too, but after seeing the stuff she’s posted and hearing more about that halftime BS I’m just not going to defend her as “just another crappy Vandy player.”

If we’re going to have a female kicker one day, she needs to be able to actually kick a football at least as well as the other kickers, be willing to lay down a hit and even get up and shake off a hit when it happens to her (and it will, especially if she’s handling kick offs)

I’m just not seeing any of this so far with Sarah Fuller and I’m getting the impression the team isn’t either.

I think Mason left the interim coach in a bad spot though. Remove her from the team and it’s bad press. Leave her on the team and it’s a bad look to the players and recruits. Lose/lose.

Is there any validity to vandy players quitting the team? Links?

I bet they puss out due to optics.

Leave her on the team and make her work, but let the regular kicker have his job back. OR hold a fair and impartial kicking tryout and let the actual best kicker do the kicking.

When you make fair and impartial decisions the situation becomes much fairer and easier to defend.

True. I don't know how much time they'll have, but at least a 1-day tryout would be better than the mess they're in now.

One thing that keeps getting missed is that kicking in HS is VERY different than kicking in college. High schoolers are using kicking blocks that aren't allowed in college. It's wrong to assume that someone who kicked in HS can pick it up in college with a few days practice because it's not the same at all. Those kicking blocks make a world of difference.

Oh, right - kicking the football in HS is vastly different than in college. But kicking a soccer ball is a 1-to-1 correlation.

frick that. Start her at MLB. When she refuses, call her a coward and kick her off of the field.

I am so glad that when girls play in the SEC, they will have no chance of serious injury. This is so dumb.....the woke crew wants to end football as we know it. How many years before SEC goes to flag football?

I don't think he meant it as a defense of using a soccer player, but rather a semi-adjacent statement on how hard it is to transition from high school to college as a place kicker.

Regardless of where the person was coming from, they'd have to practice a decent bit to get where they can really kick it well.

I've never heard of anyone being allowed to just randomly join a team on a whim during the middle of the season

This was 100% political on Vanderbilt's part and I hope they suffer for years because of it

Ask any of Vanderbilt's girls soccer team if it's okay that any random girl just walks onto their team during the middle of the season and automatically get's playing time. That needs to happen today. I want to hear responses. They opened the can of worms. I hope tranny's show up demanding to play soccer for Vandy.

It's an unfortunate situation that Vanderbilt created. I can have a certain amount of sympathy for her....but being an athlete she should have known better than to get up and chastise the team. She would not have taken it well if someone had done that to her and her teammates.
It gets worse when she embraces the publicity and sets herself up as an icon for women to emulate.

From what I understand their punter was an All State kicker in HS. It seems they would have seen him kick a few times.

I hope 40 year old tranny prostitutes who aren't even enrolled at Vandy show up demanding a spot on the Vandy soccer team, and demanding playing time. I hope they argue that life dealt them a bad hand, and it's just not fair that they were held out of the American dream of being admitted to school at Vanderbilt. Vandy needs to enroll tranny prostitutes today, and make them starters on the soccer team today. Immediately.
