Georgia has a Natty and Florida has reached the College World Series multiple times in the last decade. What's your excuse?

I have went to a couple (as in two) Mizzou baseball games since I came to Columbia in 2001. I live 15 mns from the stadium and I don't go. I have been to quite a few more Mizzou softball games. For one, Mizzou is better, but mostly I like the fact that the games are quick and well played. Mizzou has had some top-shelf pitchers in the past but the rest of the team just hasn't been good or interesting enough to get me to go.
The other two things that are off-putting are the weather and the aluminum bats. I know that's a cop out on both fronts, but the weather sucks for at least the first third to half of the season, and I'm not going to the ballpark when it's 45 degrees to watch a baseball game for 3 hours. And I know the aluminum bats thing is also a cop out, but it's true. It just doesn't feel like adults playing baseball when they're out pinging the crap out of the ball. It leads to high scoring games and oh my god I sound so freaking old and curmudgeony now that I am just going to stop.
More power to those who like college baseball, it's just not my thing; I wish it were 65 degrees right now and the stadium served alcohol. I'd be taking early Fridays off all season

So...if MapQuest is right, it is almost exactly 2 hours from Columbia, Mo to Kansas City in one direction and 2 hours to St. Louis in the other.
Let's look at driving distances from other SEC towns to Major League venues.
Lexington to Cincinnati - 1hr 24 minutes
Auburn to Atlanta - 1hr 48 minutes
Tuscaloosa to Atlanta - 3hrs 16 minutes
Knoxville to Atlanta - 3hrs 29 minutes
Columbia, SC to Atlanta - 3hrs 24 minutes
It isn't like it is crossing the Atlantic to go see a major league game from most SEC venues that don't have teams in their state. Some are actually closer to the major league venue than MIZZOU.

They are getting better, last year was no fluke. The Royals will make a playoff run and might even be the favorites to win their division this year.

I'm from Columbia, Missouri. I like baseball. I like college basketball a lot more. I find the SEC's fixation with college baseball *over and above* its interest in college hoops to be weird and not something I will ever get used to nor do I have any interest in doing so. It feels very abnormal to me that on tRant, when college football season is still in progress, any early season college hoops posts are met with "its still football season, GTFO with that basketball talk." But while shooty hoop season is still ongoing and we aren't event to March Madness yet, Day One of the college baseball season, during which most SEC teams are playing scrubs of some kind, sees this board littered with front page threads and celebration of all kinds. It is what it is, but I'm not part of that club nor will I ever have much desire to join it.

Have you been following the offseason? We're going nowhere with Vargas as our #2

KC fans ripping Cards fans...
Something new and original.
Just dripping with the usual themes of jealousy and envy.
Love my KC Mizzou brothers and sisters but this shite is tired and worn out. I get MLB Extra Innings so I can watch my favorite AL team, the KC Royals.
