Well, like I mentioned in my first post in this thread, I hope your fans start getting behind your Tigers.

Great chance to continue the tailgating and the smack talk with your opponents.

I hate to say it but Cards fans can be an arrogant bunch.

Prepare your anus, the self-proclaimed best fans in baseball will rain fire on you if you speak anything ill of them.

FWIW, I agree with you. Growing up and through high school, I thought the Cardinals were cool and had a lot of respect for them.....after my first month at Mizzou (the fall they won the WS), I have never been so disgusted with a group of individuals save kansas fans. Now these are college aged kids I'm talking about, so I'm certainly not indicting my fellow Mizzou/STL posters here, but I've found that the cardinals fans I interact with here at Mizzou (again, college kids) are some of the most entitled, arrogant, and condescending sports fans I've ever encountered....and all over a game! I get along with them just fine in all other aspects, but God forbid when baseball comes up, they are God's gift to man and I am a piece of scum because they like the cardinals and I like the royals. It's sad behavior really...i think the problem is that unlike older generations of cardinals fans, the kids my age have never seen struggle or adversity for their franchise. Same with kU basketball fans my age. Never seen a bad product or had to deal with a bad season, and that leads to entitlement.

My rule of thumb is Cardinals fans born before 1980 are fine. They love the Cardinals and love the game of baseball. Cardinals fans born between 1980-1989 are a mixed bag. Some are good fans and some are douches...kind of a toss up. Cardinals fans born after 1990 are mostly insufferable douches who just like winning Two of my best friends and future roommates are cardinals fans...both of them openly admit they don't like baseball and only watch because the cardinals are always competitive. One is also a colts fan because he thinks the rams suck

Oh and before all the cardinals fans get pissy at me over my opinion, just remember that most people outside of the state of Missouri (see the More Sports Board) seem to agree with my sentiment and it's not "just a KC thing" as is the common retort.

So I've seen. Fun to sit back and watch them go at it. I wonder if the line "we play the game the right way" or "we play with class" was issued at all

Nah not quite....the number of LA based posters makes that a bigger rivalry on here. At least that's a natural rivalry though, I think the Braves/Cards stuff just stems from the 2012 infield fly playoff game, and now they just troll the shite out of each other

Taylor Stadium seats 3,000. You mean to tell me that because of St Louis and KC being two hours away, that's why you can't fill up a freaking 3,000 seat ballpark?

No, they really aren't. I'm guessing I'm older then you, and can remember the 85 World Series. I partied a few nights down at Westport during the series and came in contact with quite a few Card fans. While some were pretty cool, the vast majority were arrogant and insufferable. And to this day, they will still bitch about that series, even though the Cards had every opportunity to get out of the Denkinger inning, let alone the 7th game to win the series.

While my older brother was attending Mizzou back in the late 70s' he had a lot of St Louis friends, but the sentiment was they always looked down on KC as their little brother and was quite arrogant about it. I think for the most part, that sentiment is still alive today. They also view themselves as an eastern city, like a Chicago, which is fine and everything, but I have to laugh when they come on here and try to pump their southeast cred.

Not wanting to turn this into a St Louis vs KC pissing match but just sharing what I have witnessed in my lifetime thus far. Hell, KC is more "southern" than Louie but find no reason to prove the point.

I don't get that either. There's never been a rivalry with the Braves. I suppose because they dominated for a decade in the days of Maddox, some Cards fans feel threatened by them and visa versa. I think Killz sparks a lot of that on the MSB so that hardly counts. If anything, most Cards fans respect the Braves for what they have accomplished.

Why is it that it's always KC fans that start the whining and pissing contest between STL and KC. At least that's how it's been on here 90% of the time.

Yes, the Denkinger call was horrible and changed the landscape of that series. Nearly 100% of Cards fans will tell you that the team holds as much blame because that game wasn't over and the series wasn't over yet. Doesn't make that call any better or easier to swallow.

Now if you want me to give all my examples of KC fans being dicks back in the 70's and 80's, I can. But I'd just as soon chalk it up to both cities have their dicks and move on.

If true, maybe because we are on the receiving end of a lot of the BS thrown our way.

The Denkinger call didn't change the landscape of shite. Cards had the opportunity to get out of that inning and blew it. They also had game 7 to get their revenge, and were blown out. That's what is funny about Cards fans in this scenario. You guys try to hang the Denkinger call as pivotal in the series, when in reality, your team blew it. Pure and simple.

Reedus, I have a lot of respect for you as a poster so it's all good as far as I'm concerned. I entered this thread just to give my perspective on a few things, I may have put Louie in a bad light, but just my observations over the years.

I think it did change the landscape. Hitting with a 1-2 count is different than hitting with a 2-1 count. Man on 1st, no outs is different than no one on and 1 out. It absolutely changed the landscape. Was it a determining factor in who won the series? No. It only played a roll.

The biggest reason KC won was because KC executed when they had to and STL didn't. My bad if I was too strong. I have a lot of respect for nearly all the Mizzou posters and really don't give 2 thoughts to what part of the state they're from. Just hate hearing the divisiveness within the state. Seems to accomplish nothing. And that goes for both sides.

I agree with you on this my good man, but we aren't alone. Alabama with Bama/Auburn, Mississippi with Ole Miss/ State and so on. Just the reality of the situation.

I live in KC. Going to Royals Spring Training in 10 days. Love going to the K. Enjoy taking my boy and watching him try to catch a foul ball.

Also drive to Fayetteville for at least 1 series - usually a couple each Spring. If they get to Omaha, I'll go there since it's such an easy drive. My boy attends Dave Van Horn's camp in the summer.

Seems pretty easy and natural to support my local MLB franchise and my alma mater.
