Idk how you judge this at their peak because Burrow is a rookie, PP7 is at the tail end of a career and Shaq career is over and can be completely analyzed in retrospect. Also still a completely different sport.

I totally agree with this. It was a dumb question.

The better setup would be:

Burrow
Justin Jefferson
Patrick Queen

At this point, Burrow’s career has been parallel to both RG3 and Josh Allen.

All three were top draft picks. All three had a decent rookie year. Yet RG3 tanked in his second season and is a career backup. Josh Allen is now a Top 5 NFL QB.

There’s no way of knowing how Burrow’s career will end up. Countless guys like him end up as career backups.

So considering the other two are HOFers, yes, I will question your intelligence if you pick Burrow over them.

Yes, we know that, but who cares. It’s a hypothetical.

Shaq should be the pay
Then you could go back and forth with Peterson and Burrow.

It’s okay I promise.

I assume we are talking in their prime.

If so,

- Pay PP: leadership and one of the premier talents in the Defensive Backfield in recent memory

- Franchise Shaq - pay him later; NBA legend

- Cut Burrow - in a couple years we can revisit it; lots of promise with only one extraordinary CFB for the ages and a part of a CV19 * NFL season before serious injury to judge. (Did see today he will be back to running this month and is making good progress toward a return sometime in 2021 season best of luck to him)

Franchise Shaq. That’s the no-brainer. He is one of the most dominant players ever in his sport, and he played in a league where having the best player on the floor almost automatically puts you in the conference finals.

Pay Burrow. This was harder, but QBs are so valuable that if you think you have a great one—even early—you can’t let him go.

Cut PP7. Even the most dominant CBs can only take away about a quarter of the field. PP7 has been awesome, but how many rings does he have? CBs simply don’t have the impact of QBs or NBA stars.

Anyone who doesn't franchise Shaq is wrong. I'm not even sure how that's up for debate.

The other 2 is more debatable, but I'm paying PP based on experience. It's hard to tell what Burrow is going to do. He hasn't even had to adjust after teams figure out things about him yet, so it's really hard to know how he will do long term.

If that’s how you feel then you pay him (i.e. lock him in for many years) you don’t franchise tag him for a year and let him potentially become an unrestricted free agent the next year (and risk pissing him off by not offering him the long term deal now).

In this thread I think there are a lot of people that don’t understand what “franchising” a player means.

You are correct. I misunderstood. In that case, Pay Shaq for my reasons listed. Franchise Burrow.
