Everyone questions Missouri's ability to win big games.
Mizzou is happy with Drink because he wins 7 or 8 games a year and gets them to a bowl.
Unless they find another Cignetti, that's their ceiling.

We've been saying that since you guys got here (no offense) - you made the SECCG twice in a row, and the closest you got to winning was being within 3 of Auburn before they wrecked Missouri in the 4th and made it a 17 point win.
The next one was worse; you got within 8 of Alabama before a similar 4th quarter obliteration (with the final score 42-13).

Drink, and Mizzou more broadly, have not shown the ability to compete with the absolute top dogs. On the other hand, (and why I think your 5-7 prediction is harsh) Mizzou consistently performs well against teams that it should beat, and teams that are its near-peers.
Drink's Mizzou teams are just 7-21 against ranked opponents, but 18-5 against unranked SEC opponents, and 21-4 against unranked non-conference opponents.
This is is not so different than how Mizzou historically stacked up in the Big Eight. Our records against Oklahoma and Nebraska are abysmal, but we have winning records against the other five Big Eight schools.

I love the university, but it is not committed to championships. We’re never serious competitors for anything big.
So the criticism is 100% valid.
It’s going to be a down year. Based on our recent history, I don’t see 7 wins in our regular season schedule.

Drink's teams so far teach QBs how not to pass the ball over 5 yards. Last year, Alabama let Missouri back in the game because they started to play a defense that pretended Missouri had a passing attack.
