This shows the nation that Arkansas doesn't have the money to compete in football and has failed to secure funds from bigger names in the area.

Not worth it to them if I’m being honest. Gotta have a full stadium if you want the Gold Star or Gold and Red Wings FULL endorsements. Especially with Tyson as he bankrolls a heavy chunk of bball every year bc of his relationship with Cal. We were never at the top, but we have fallen. It’s sad to be worse than a decent amount of teams that we used to beat almost all the time or quite frequently.

It's happening everywhere. Mizzou is in the process of selling naming rights - we are going to lose the Memorial Stadium name all together. The Memorial name comes from the fact it was dedicated to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in WWI, so it changing is a bit of bad look and has rightfully rubbed some folks the wrong way. In practice everyone calls it Faurot Field anyway (the field itself is named for Don Faurot).
Regardless what they call it - if you haven't been I hope you can make a game at Faurot some day, I certainly intend to make it to Razorback for one in the next few years!

We were not pleased to have Memorial Stadium saddled with the moniker Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium.
At least we still can refer to where they play as Owen Field.

Walmart and members of the Walton family have given the university over $700 million. $300 million came in 2002.

The deal is $5.4 Million per year over 13 years. CA is looking to expand their footprint beyond the KC area. They've already got 6 locations in NWA. Clearly they saw value in aligning their Marketing with the U of A. Incidentally, that alignment and brand awareness is already enjoyed by all the Fortune 500 companies in NWA, so such an annual expenditure made no business sense.
Living in the KC area, I see their ads with Bobby Witt JR and the chiefs qb running regularly on local stations. They also sponsor the Diamond Club at the K. They seem to be a really good corporate sponsor/partner.
We're not familiar with them yet in NWA, but from the size of this investment, we are likely to become very familiar with them. I'm good with this partnership. Let's see how it activates...

honest question, does the Reynolds family have a say in any of this or are they compensated in any way? Seems kinda shitty that you'd have a dude's name on the stadium and have a generation of people know it by that name and then jsut scrape him off for the highest bidder.

The Reynolds foundation made a $20 million donation and part of that included a naming rights agreement which expired in 2024.
Also, now that the numbers are out on the new agreement, anyone complaining about it is just looking for something to bitch about. It's the new way in college sports and it's a good deal. And I say that as someone who is not a fan of Hunter.

The Donald W Reynolds Foundation out of Tulsa spent down its cash and dissolved many years ago. The gift to name the U of A stadium was one of those gifts designed to help spend down their capital. They've also supported a number of other capital projects throughout Arkansas, including the inpatient hospice facility for Arkansas Hospice in Russellville and the Center on Aging on the UAMS campus. I know of several other capital projects across Arkansas (and probably OK as well) that they supported. Their tie was not particularly tight with the UA or the Hogs. That was just some good work by UA and Razorback Foundation Development Officers back in the Day.

They did for 20 years, because that's what they paid for (actually DW Reynolds foundation paid for it). Donald W Reynolds didn't have a direct affiliation with U of Ark other than his businesses operated in that region. In fact he was a Mizzou journalism graduate. Basically, it was nothing more than an early naming rights deal. I'd think the Arkansas folks would be glad to have a Mizzou grad's name off of one of their most famous buildings (I know I would if tables were turned).
