Nope. Never said that

I’m just laughing at you thinking a result from 2004 is at all relevant to this season

To most of the sane world, that seems like an uphill climb.

When you reach your 'just 4-5' list, it doesn't help when you should lose two of the first three games. Closing 3-2 is a hell of a lot harder than it seems, you even consider things like injuries and the amount of guys looking ahead to the portal that might entail. Maybe Tennessee derails as well, making that game more winnable. 6.5 seems about right, though.

ETA:

There is a world in which you get the better versions of SC, Mizzouri, and an LSU playing for something meaningful as well, and it all goes right in the shitter. 5-7 isn't out of the question at all.

I’d take the over. Six wins that shouldn’t be any problem. They should pick up one or two others, no problem. The Red River Rivalry is never a given no matter what the rankings…And they should be able to knock off one more.

I’d say over. OU will likely beat Michigan.

OU had a ton of injuries last year, and can win some more games if they can protect that QB Mateer. His highlight tape looks good when he has plenty of time and space.

Are you saying he will have plenty of time and space against SEC teams?

7-8 wins and an upset over a big name team again IMO.

Wouldn't that be Alabama?

Most likely Skeletor last season but I expect Oklahoma to be better.

It was last year and I think they’ll get someone again this year.

That defense with even a functional offense last year would’ve been a really tough team to deal with.

I think the Ole Miss' fans "outside looking in" take on this is understandable...

But inside the program it is interesting that they feel like this will be their best defense in years.

That COULD be because that while they lost Stutsman... they didn't lose much else. They basically have eight starters back... and at LB they are replacing Stutsman with a fourth year guy who has played a lot... and at the other two spots they have seasoned guys ready to step in.

OU will be much improved. That schedule is tough though

I think Vegas is looking at the facts that Oklahoma lost an All-American caliber linebacker, doesn't have any projected All-Americans on defense, and didn't recruit extremely well on the defensive side of the ball this past cycle as an indication that their defense is going to take a major step back. Note that their defense was the only thing that kept them relevant last year and that their 2025 schedule has a lot of good/great offensive teams. Unless Oklahoma's offense is great/elite, they'll likely finish the season 6-6 or 7-5 like Vegas is predicting

D is one of best in SEC this year. When BV went to Clempson he got them to top 5 D in 3 years and kept them there. This is his 4th year and he’s a smidgon behind same pace due to starting over vs the talent Cempson had. Made huge leap last year only kept from being higher by a worst in decades offense.

Brought in the top portal QB along with his coach as OC. Brought in the top RB to go with a deep room.

I hope peeps keep sleeping on us. Last year was an anomaly due to a 5* QB who imploded and all key and backups and their backups WR hurt - and a flat out horrible OC - who got fired in season (rare, OU just doesn’t fire mid season unless you are bad bad).

Their biggest issue is overcoming the stigma of losing to missouri who was playing a 3rd string QB that game.

Pretty hard to overcome anything when the top 6 WRs on the depth chart are out with injuries. There was two scholarship freshman at WR.

OU should be night and day better with their new QB. 8-4 seems like the most likely regular season record.

So, we now know you have no idea what you’re talking about….

OU is widely regarded to have the best defensive line and linebacker unit in the country.

Swing and a miss.

So, give us the argument why Alabama goes over 6.5 wins.

So now we’re making the argument that Texas’s schedule is difficult.

This is just an untrue statement

PFF Top 10 Linebacker Units Entering 2025 - Oklahoma not mentioned

PFF Top 10 Defensive Units Entering 2025 - Oklahoma #9

I’ll even throw in secondary rankings

PFF Top 10 Secondaries entering the 2025 season - Oklahoma not mentioned

Nothing about my statement was untrue. Y’all did lose an All-American caliber linebacker, y'all don’t have any AP projected All-American players on defense, and your 2025 recruiting class leans heavily towards the offensive side of the ball

I get that y'all are excited for your defense and what not, I’m just saying that from an outsider’s perspective, your defense doesn’t project to be as good as y’all might think. Especially when you consider all of the teams y’all have to play this year

And that’s why you’re an outsiders perspective. Aka you don’t know shite about the defense.

You can go look up people that actually played ball talk about the defense. I’ll take their word for it over yours and your cherry picked sources.
