Kendall Wells, a freshman, just hit her 27th HR, breaking the SEC single season HR record, with 17 regular season games left. That is amazing. The SEC is truly loaded in softball, and so is OU.

They need bigger fields. Playing on a little league field doesn’t cut it when they got 200 pounders all over the place.

I think scaling back the bats is more likely.

This, never understood why fastpitch fields are so incredibly tiny

No wonder so many jacks can get hit when your foul poles are like 200 feet and dead center is 220. Those are shallow pop flys to the center outfield in baseball. It's 127 feet from home plate to 2B in baseball.

And yes I realize everything needs to be much shorter in softball, but its clearly way too easy to hit home runs nowadays with how we've bred some of these players. Move the fences out 15-20 feet. Probably easier to just dumb down the bats like college baseball has done a few times.

OU as team is on pace for 200 home runs this year which would shatter their own record.

To me, the home runs aren't really the problem... Although it might be a better game if they did move the dimensions out a little bit (It will never happen because too many fields have outfield stands).

The real problem is how short the infield dimensions are. The players are getting faster and every grounder is bang-bang to first base. The umps miss half of them. They miss a lot of steals at second if the throw down is good.

As a result.. there are a lot of reviews at first base... and then the coaches run out of reviews and you simply have missed calls. A bunch of the time the plays at first are ties.

I think they need to move the bags back about three feet so that every routine ground ball to the left side of the infield isn't so tight a play.

27 home runs in just 38 games played for 1 person is absolutely stupid

I could get behind this although the pace of play is one of the reasons I enjoy softball.

Did I see where Oklahoma schedule was one of the weakest in the nation? No wonder they’ve got the stats.
