Learned something today. Been decades since Texas took an A&M coach. Feel good about that.

Only coach worth stealing the past 84 years is whoever heads meat judging...that's if we could be bothered to put together a team.

If they find a good coach they will improve. However, they need a complete overhaul of their baseball facilities and stadium. I am sure it will be coming, but they really do need it.

Could not possibly agree more. Texas baseball is near and dear to my heart and I'm absolutely disgusted with the state of the program and starting to question CDC's commitment to it. He will show me this year if he really cares because if we go into the SEC with this fraud coaching us then that tells me he doesn't. As much as I bag on Rodney Terry the truth is we don't have a long history in basketball and perhaps I ask too much.... And I'm a little disingenuous because at the end of the day I really don't really give a shite about basketball.

... But when it comes to baseball the University of Texas should never be in the state we're in right now. It's unacceptable. The Aggies have passed us by in baseball and I never thought I would live to see that happen.

It really is. How the hell does Texas go multiple years in a row without a team sniffing the top 25? It’s preposterous.

Pretty simple if you ask me. Combine a terrible head coach hire with lack of support from the athletic department and you end up with this shite show we have right now.
The most discouraging part for me is wondering what the hell happened to the Texas baseball fan. We used to demand to be able to compete at the highest level and now it just appears that most Texas fans are simply happy getting there. Never thought I would see that day.
The first two problems can be fixed pretty quickly if the fans demand it. I'm starting to question if enough care at this point.

We lost to Houston 9-1. We are so pathetic I have moved from angry to maniacally laughing at how inept Pierce is....and he did it to himself via micromanagement.
We're going to find out after this season if CDC gives a shite about the baseball program. If he doesn't make a change we're going to be a laughing stock in the SEC.
He's made some great decisions since he arrived but boy does he have his work cut out for him here.

Gators have ONE more than Aggie. Florida has well accomplished athletic programs.

A team can reload quickly in this era. Will be interesting to watch the coaching search unfold. Does Texas go after someone from the SEC footprint and experience of going through the meat grinder? If I’m Clemson, I’d start talking extension with Bakich soon to get ahead of CDC.

Great question. That's where I would start my search for sure

I’m of the opposite opinion concerning baseball and portal. I think its the harder team to rebuild quickly compared to other sports.

If you find a great pitcher in portal he can’t pitch every game nor go 9 innings a game. In football you find a qb he can play every snap. Pitchers are prone to arm injuries as well.

On the other side you need some hitters but they have to play defense as well. In football you find a DT thats all he plays.

Not saying you can’t bring in quality transfers but you need a ton of them and they need to pan out.

Disagree. With football you are competing with every school. Not every school cares about college baseball and will toss NIL money around.

Yes, you are competing with more football teams. However, the top 20 can afford the bigger NIL and reputation will get them that one player who can change a season (where in baseball you need several).

Look at Uscw when they got Caleb Williams. They jumped up quite a bit from where they were. OU getting Hurts to qb his last year. Many stories of one FB player making a difference.

I just think in FB one or two great transfers can make a huge difference where in baseball it takes many more to make an equal difference. Thats all I’m saying, I think baseball is the harder sport to make a quick turnaround. With patience it can be done in 2-3 years though.

Texas baseball has been down at times in the past.

It never lasts too long.

The next hire sure as hell better be better than Pierce or this can turn into a long time really fast in this new conference.

So far, I would say that either OU or Texas would he fighting for absolute dead last in the SEC.

I can't wait till football and do expect them to compete, just gonna be suprised by playing SEC games every week.

But baseball is gonna be a joke. Not a single team ranked in the D1 top 20. Both schools need complete overhauls from players to coaching staffs. I could add more evidence but will keep it tame.

Who could argue either will complete anytime soon in SEC baseball????

Baseball is a different sport than football. Its a long season grind and teams will ebb and flow. OU coach Skip will basically give up some early/mid season mid-week games to protect his arms. This happened 2 years ago when we made the title run as well. His pitchers came in string late season.

Here is current B12 standings as if last night

So at the absolute best, middle of the road. Baseball is the most competitive sport in the SEC. Any team can beat any other, and that isn’t hearsay.

We know. And it will be a grind. But we embrace it too. I do want to point out looking at the standings I posted above, keep in mind OU has played the hardest SOS in all of college baseball this year.

It doesn’t mean we will do great in SEC, but Skip shows he likes to play tough schedules during season to build his team through competition vs padding win stats via cream puff games. That should help.

I think moving is going to help in another area and thats field. It’s going to show how much more we have to improve our baseball facilities. Plans are in place already but the move might help speed up that process and money.
