than he had at MSU and he's not playing a West schedule so if he can duplicate on offense what he did at State he will challenge for the East every year. And he's got a really good DC in Grantham"

"I've got a lot of respect for Mullen, there is an argument he is the best QB coach in the Southeast"

Why do you think Auburn wants to move to the East? We want some of that old school SEC action like back when 5-3 could win your division.

The best defensive coaches possess fire and intellect.

Grantham definitely has fire.

There was a good reason we called 3rd down 'Third and Grantham' while he was at UGA. Because his defenses couldn't get off the field on 3rd and long. If I remember correctly, there was a TD drive last year vs. UF where Fromm converted 3 or 4 3rd downs in a row. That's why we called it that.

That "drive" was because of we had to start a third string cornerback, our first string was injured first game of the year and lost for the season....then second stringer was out the first half because of targeting. So don't criticize Grantham for that pal.

LSU and Texas A&M did exactly that in the West. Both had 3 losses.

Third and Grantham. Can't coach his players to get off the field. Enjoy!

We can't figure it out. Auburn would still fight to keep the Iron Bowl and that would guarantee two losses a year. One against Georgia and one against Alabama. Besides, now that Tennessee is beating Auburn....well, you know.

But as for your statement....when did a 5-3 conference winner win the East?

If you are going to make an excuse for every 3rd down conversion, your life will be miserable.

I promise you that Todd Grantham has an excuse for every one of them. Is that the type of coach you want?

If only we had injured players.
We lost a good portion of our OLine for large portions of the season last year.

And yet the east had a better head to head record. How does that work out? I mean, LSU was 1-1 against the east, too......baw.

You know, it's funny. You can actually look up the defensive stats from last year and see that UGA allowed more first downs in conference play than UF did. 3rd and Kirby, amirite?

when you're beating a team by 20, first downs in trash time are no biggie.
