Jesus what a tough schedule. Auburn will be fortunate to go 8-4 with that gauntlet. Scheduling Oregon was ballsy with those east opponents.

This was a good take however there are some issues

We have to schedule harder OOC teams. The last time we didnt and had a great season our OOC schedule was used as a reason the 2004 Auburn squad was the first and only team in SEC history to finish undefeated and not play for a national championship. We were told our OOC schedule was too weak. Since then we have been scheduling at least 1 big time OOC opponent.

Also its not just about Ws and Ls. Its how we look in the Ls. Its running it up the gut 17 straight times after a 1st down vs LSU. Its about someone on staff not able to count to 5, costing MR Football in Alabama to lose a redshirt season and transfer. Its about our offense not showing up for half a season at a time. Its about stocking up on WRs boosting recruiting rankings. Its about being paid top 5 money to consistently go 8-5. Its about bringing in top 10 talent only to just suck at player development. Its about an 8 year old little girl who hates football calling out what play is coming the second they lineup.

Gus is a good guy and his players love him but a lot of our fans are getting tired of being told "the future is bright" and that "no doubt we had an excellent week of practice" only to see the same results over and over and over

Also anyone who thinks Auburn will be better in 2020 has no clue what they are talking about. 99% chance the OTs who will start in 2020 are not yet on campus. We have signed 759 OGs, a few "tweeners," and like 5 OTs over the last 4 classes. One of those OTs is no longer on campus. Two have never taken a meaningful snap after being on campus for years, and the other two were low rated backups to backups.

Unless a miricle happens its doubtful we have a winning record in 2020. That is if Gus even makes it THAT far.

What a hoot. You stumbled into a once in 5 decade year in basketball and baseball and that will save the football program?

No its not likely going to. But IMO Auburn should be campaigning harder and louder about changing up the schedules to make things more fair.

According to S&P+, here are how many times since 2012 each SEC team has played a Top 3 ranked SOS nationally:

You are usually pretty fair, but those are some very misleading numbers.

Here is the final SOS of Alabama and AU each year since 2009 according to TeamRankings. Keep in mind that AU has the advantage of playing Bama each year. Bama has had the toughest SOS in the country 5 times, AU 3; top three 7 times in 10 years, AU 4 times. Bama's easiest sched has been #7, AU had had 15, 37, 27 and 24. That's with AU getting to play Bama each year.

18: Ala 1, AU 7
17: Ala 6, AU 1
16: Ala 1, AU 7
15: Ala 1, AU 15
14: Ala 2, AU 1
13: Ala 7, AU 3
12: Ala 1, AU 37
11: Ala 3, AU 27
10: Ala 6, AU 1
09: Ala 1, AU 24

AU's has been tough but, Bama has played the hardest schedule in the country during this dynasty. They have the hardest schedule in history and 3 or so of the top 10 hardest sched in history. Again, your post was misleading.

Gus has firmly placed AU in football purgatory for the last 5 yrs. He’s doing the best he can do while basically forcing the fan base to lower their expectations. He’s a good coach that has kept AU on their historical path of 8 wins a year and most years he has his team in the CPF “discussion” a lot of folks are ok with that.

Two SECW titles in 6 years, one SEC title , 3 NY6 appearances and an appearance in the NC Game. That doesn’t sound like an 8 win per year coach.

It seems that way.

Yet, that is all he can muster in the regular season per year.
