Since everyone will just look it up they are:
OU Jamelle Holieway 1985
Clemson Trevor Lawrence 2016
Side note: Jamelle replaced Troy Aikman who broke his ankle vs Miami in game 4, the only loss for OU. Jamelle was undefeated as starter.
Good trivia question. Redshirt freshmen have started/won a title but only 2 true freshmen.

If you listen to the media you could almost swear that Tebow was the starter in 2006. I think some of them believe it as well.

Do you remember or know the Indian phrase that Jamelle had on a headband around his neck? It was something like Honto Yo meaning clear the way or path.

Their teams were very good. They just didn't lose games. That's what you need from freshmen quarterbacks.

In 2017, Jake Fromm came about as close as you can without winning it all. He took over the starting job when Jacob Eason got hurt with 6 minutes left in the 1st qtr of game one against App State. Fromm kept the job all the way, til Georgia led 23-20 in the 1st overtime of the national championship game. Alabama was in a bad position with 2nd and 26 on the 41 yard line and Georgia's defensive backfield busted a coverage.

Trevor Lawrence was 2018. Deshaun Watson was ‘16.
Jalen Hurts has entered the chat.

2000 was your last National Championship in football.
That’s a generation ago by most metrics.
