Is a true, bitter rivalry. After watching Roll Tide/War Eagle it really drove home the point that LSU doesn't have a true rivalry, at least not in the recent decades. The amount of hatred between Auburn and Alabama is actually pretty awesome. Gotta be the best rivalry in college sports?

Glad we don't have to protect our oaks from some of these types.

eh its good and bad. Great when it's all fun and games, but when civility gets left out the door (and i mean from both sides) it's terrible, and sadly this is where the rubber meets the road for more than its fair share of auburn and alabama fans.

My worst fear of what would happen if Tulane returned to relevance.

To me yes, but the media will always say Michigan/Ohio State is the greatest rivalry because it takes up two states.

Wouldn't you think that Bama/LSU is turning into a rivalry? IF both teams continue to be dominate it could get really fun in the coming years.

It blows 364 days a year, but that one Saturday of the year when Alabama whips AU's arse makes it all worth it imho

Outside of Army-Navy, it is.

IMHO

My brother's an LSU grad, lived in bamaland, and thinks the AU - UA rivalry is excellent.

Hats off to them.

Its a rivalry only when both teams are good. For example, there wasn't much hate of Bama in their down years. I would imagine the same would be true when Bama was good and LSU wasn't. Right now since both teams are good, there's some back and forth but this doesn't constitute a rivalry in the pure sense.

It has gotten ridiculous lately due to things like finebaum and message boards. UA and AU fans generally are fairly civil in real life. Unfortunately, the whackos have been made more visible with technology and national shite-stirring shows and that just drives others to act the same.

I do agree with this but I grew up during the years we always played A&M

I think that will develop into a great rivalry but will take some time

This ^^

The new era of the rivalry is turning nasty. Its hard to even talk football around certain people. The jealousy and hatred from both sides is out of control.

I had a family member get visibly upset the other day because people were mentioning Cam breaking Peyton's record. She freaked out and went on and on about Tebow and how much better he was, knowing she was blinded by hatred.

Our trees have survived generations of drunk cajuns peeing at their base. They're pretty hard to kill by now. That being said, you touch 'em, we target your statues in response.

i'll chime in to say i appreciate not having a true rival. it has allowed me to hate auburn in the 90's and early 00's when we were battling with them for the west. it has allowed me to hate bama recently with our shared success. it has allowed me to hate florida equally. i like not having to put all that hate on one team. i'm sure having an au/ua rivalry is awesome, especially since its instate, but i'm good just hating all of y'all equally....(and by hate, i mean hate on game day, i have a mutual respect for those programs as well).
