Columbia is hell on earth in September and early October. Don’t know what it is about that town but the heat is unbearable. Even for night games
It sits in a bowl at a mere 250 feet above sea level downwind from the highest Appalachian chain all while being over a 100 miles from the coast. Literal hell. It is a constant 95 with heat indices in the 100s. The standards for heat advisories are higher there then anywhere else to. It has to be a heat index higher than 110. If it was as hot in Atlanta as it is there, we would be under a heat advisory every day in the summer.

We have always called it the Dust Bowl.
What!? Who the hell is we? You and your one friend that would go to games with you?
I have never ever heard any UGA fan or any other fan refer to it as that.

Before
After
That has to be one of the nicest upgrades for any stadium area anywhere. If one of our old SWC schools had done it we would have been subjected to daily updates. True southern folks you are, Gamecocks, but you really should blow your horn more. It’s okay to be obnoxious sometimes.

The fact that it was done years ago and you’re just now hearing about this should tell you everything you need to know when people post best stadium or best tailgating threads.

The block the stadium sits in used to be nothing but asphalt. Big time boosters parked under the stadium overhang right next to the gates. You had to navigate your way through all the big caddy’s and trucks to get out.
Plus the entire interior and exterior was unpainted gray concrete.
The fairgrounds parking lot was grass and dirt with numbered signs on wire strung between poles to mark the reserved spaces.
Since then, the fairgrounds has paved roads with grass parking spots and trees. Not as nice as what the did to the farmers market but still a massive upgrade. Most of the warehouses close to the stadium have been pushed out by condos and tailgating pavilions. It’s not otherwise a residential area so there are some wholesale businesses remaining nearby.
The Brice is about 2 miles from the main campus so many visitors miss the University entirely. The downside is missing that on campus factor plus few nearby bars such as you see in Athens. The upside is plenty of high quality tailgating in a really concentrated area.
Best and most unique part is the cockabooses.

In 2006 we tailgated around some tin sheds, or something. I remember thinking what the hell did I come here for?
Folks were nice, but the area around the stadium and the concourse of the stadium on visitors side was absolute shite.
May need to go back now it seems?

Looks great, Gamecocks.
Would like to head over there for a game sometime.

Yeah, that stadium was definitely an odd one when we visited. It doesn't help that it is technically off-campus. Inside the stadium, the atmosphere was great. But outside, the stadium looked like a generic NFL stadium.

Joe Cain will have a better venue to play in. Maybe Mack and Lattimer will ring that championship bell!
