Penn State fans, Florida State fans , LSU fans and Florida fans
You just need to focus on who your next hire will be, ReggieRay. By the time Kiffin leaves you after the playoffs for Florida or LSU the pickins will be slim and the 30 day window your players will be granted to jump ship is gonna be ugly.

He didn’t make any points. He asked questions and I answered.
Move along.

But like half the threads on the board, this one is about LSU.

Well, yeah, if any number of about 15 schools finds a great coach you can say this.

LSU will always be a contender.
And John Milner will always post about them.
And John Milner will always post about them.

So why hasn’t LSU been a contender since 2019
So why are you still reading LSU message boards if you aren’t concerned about them contending?

He actually meant himself. I hate to break it to you, but this was coach speech. If he believed that, why did he go to the Dolphins after only a few years at LSU?
Because he was always going to scratch that NFL itch. Goes back to his time as DC for the Browns: he saw college as a stepping stone for the NFL job he really wanted.
If he doesn't go to LSU but is hired by Bama in 2001, he leaves for the NFL by 2006 at the latest. Just listen to him: he understood the lure of being "the next Bear Bryant", but he decided to chase Don Shula anyway.
He learned in Miami that the NFL isn't what he wanted, which made him a better coach at Bama. But, he had to go through that lesson to keep from being a vagabond.
GEAUX TIGERS!

They fired a coach not long after a National Championship and you thought Kelly might survive what happened this season?

Kiffin is not going to LSU. No matter how hard you rub your Toonces doll and pray to saints Paul Dietzel and Billy Cannon.

Not true.
I've never met a bama fan that didn't ooze that sense of entitlement. And never met one in the SECR that you could have a conversation with about the game with them using the word "melt" as their sole response.

You and Ole Miss fans are over there praying that Kiffin doesn’t come because you know what he could accomplish here. Stop trying to keep your heads in the sand and make yourselves feel better. O flopped after the national championship and BK was never the right fit. If we do find the right fit. Everybody is gonna be in real trouble and you know it. Keep praying that doesn’t happen.

We were a contender until we lost.

Kelly is a good coach.
I told people here when he was hired... he was a Mark Richt type of coach. Richt is in the college football hall of fame... he was very good.
Neither Richt nor Kelly were elite coaches.
Kelly would have LSU in playoff contention regularly but they'll only get in 1 out of every 3-5 years with him there.
But firing a guy like that is a risk... because there are a lot of worse coaches out there. UGA got lucky as can be in landing Smart (who ended up being elite) when they fired Richt. Most of the time you aren't going to get someone as good as Richt or Kelly when you fire a guy like that.

Two coaches who mailed it in. Only a fool doesn’t understand the natural advantages LSU has.
